We are looking for an enthusiastic educator with a passion for history, civics, geography, economics, and the social sciences who is committed to preparing students to become informed citizens, critical thinkers, and ethical leaders in an ever-changing world.
Position
Full-Time High School Social Studies Teacher
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and rigorous instruction in a variety of high school social studies courses, fostering student understanding of historical events, civic responsibility, geography, economics, and global perspectives.
- Design lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, collaboration, and real-world application while encouraging students to analyze multiple perspectives and make meaningful connections across disciplines.
- Utilize pedagogical best practices such as Understanding by Design, standards-based assessment, and project-based learning.
- Integrate classroom technology, including Canvas and our 1:1 iPad program, to enhance instruction, collaboration, assessment, and student engagement.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, respectful dialogue, and academic excellence.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support student growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities and strengthen the overall academic program.
- Participate actively in the life of the school community through professional development, faculty collaboration, student mentorship, and extracurricular involvement.
- Support the mission and values of Tampa Catholic High School by fostering the intellectual, spiritual, and personal development of every student.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students through dynamic instruction and effective classroom management.
- Experience with educational technology integration and curriculum design is preferred.
- Ability to challenge students academically while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and contributing to the mission of Catholic secondary education.
