About the Department
Position Overview: The Department of Civil Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a one-year visiting faculty position to join our community starting in August 2026. We seek candidates with a strong background in the area of engineering design principles. The fair area of expertise should be in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, or civil engineering materials.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching introduction to engineering design as well as other civil engineering courses that align with the candidate’s background and expertise.
- The successful candidate will be expected to teach four courses each semester.
- The position carries no expectations of service or advising so that the candidate may focus on teaching and student learning.
- The successful candidate will be mentored by the Department Chair and supported by TCNJ's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Required:
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
Preferred:
- We welcome applications from individuals with academic and professional backgrounds, including those with a PhD in Civil Engineering, those with a master's degree and relevant industry experience, and licensed Professional Engineers with substantial practice experience.
- Prior teaching and/or industry experience is highly desirable.
