POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant is vital to the overall functioning of outpatient medical/medication services. The Medical Assistant is key to the smooth and timely flow of the Member through the clinic while reassuring and making the Member feel welcome. The MA works cooperatively in a Team Model and is sensitive to the cultural differences in the Multi-Ethnic groups of Members and various professional disciplines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist and complete prior authorizations.
2. Review Member chart for updated insurance authorizations, consent for treatment, medication consents, laboratory studies, correspondence and special studies.
3. Greet and escort members through all aspects of medical clinic.
4. Work professionally with children, adolescent and adults of all ages.
5. Obtain vital signs and records information into the EMR.
6. Conduct lab and point of care testing and follow up with results.
7. Multi-task effectively.
8. Professionally interact with all TGC staff, members, and members families.
9. Provide top quality service to internal and external customers.
10. Use of recovery-oriented, person-first language in all interactions, with a strong understanding and ability to demonstrate excellence in customer service.
11. Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.
12. Perform special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Required:
Completion of an AZ approved Medical Assistant program; OR
Completion of an AZ approved Nursing Assistant Program; OR
Two years of experience as a Medical/Nursing Assistant.
At least 21 years of age or older.
Ability to obtain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
Willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
Must complete CPR and First Aid Training within 90 days of hire.
Preferred:
Certified AZ Medical Assistant.
Previous experience and knowledge working with clients receiving both psychiatric and medical treatment.
Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications.
Experience in medical records keeping.
Experience with medical equipment to obtain vital signs.
Experience with basic lab tests and point of care tests.
Experience with insurance pre-authorizations.
Pay: $21.33 per hour
