About Us
The Mental Wellness Center, Inc. (TMWC) is a values-driven group practice rooted in evidence-based care, community, and clinical excellence. We believe that relationships are worth fighting for, and we want a clinician on our team who believes that too. We are building out a specialty track for couples and relationship work, and we are looking for the right person to lead that effort.
Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed or license-eligible therapist with specialized training and experience in couples and relationship therapy to join the TMWC team. This clinician will work with couples and relationship systems of all structures, including monogamous, consensually non-monogamous (CNM), and polyamorous relationships. They may also carry a small individual caseload. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and grow a specialty area within an established practice. This position is available as full-time or part-time.
Responsibilities
Provide evidence-based couples and relationship therapy using structured modalities such as the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT), or similar approaches. Assess and treat relational conflict, communication breakdown, infidelity recovery, premarital concerns, blended family challenges, CNM agreements and transitions, polyamorous relationship dynamics, and related presenting concerns. Maintain clinical documentation within 24 business hours of each session. Participate in team meetings, peer consultation, and ongoing professional development. Actively contribute to the development of couples-focused groups, workshops, or intensives. Engage in marketing efforts to grow your caseload and build TMWC's visibility as a go-to practice for relationship care in our community.
Requirements
Must hold or be actively working toward an Illinois license in one of the following: LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent. Must be eligible for insurance paneling. Completion of formal specialized training in at least one evidence-based couples therapy modality is required. Acceptable examples include but are not limited to Gottman Method Level 1 or higher, an EFT externship, IBCT training, or a comparable structured couples therapy certification or training program. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse relationship structures without bias or judgment. Ability to hold space for complex relational dynamics without triangulating or taking sides.
Preferred Qualifications
Gottman Method Level 2 training or EFT core skills completion or beyond. Experience working with high-conflict couples, affair recovery, or multicultural relationship concerns. Familiarity with CNM relationship structures including polyamory, open relationships, swinging, and relationship anarchy. Kink-aware or kink-affirming practice experience is a plus. Interest in developing and leading couples workshops or intensives. Experience working with LGBTQ+ partnerships and diverse relationship structures.
