About the Role
The Student Life Counselor serves as a mentor, leader, and primary support for students within SEED’s residential program.
You will be responsible for teaching life skills, managing student behavior, building relationships, and maintaining a structured and supportive living environment. You will also supervise Resident Assistants and lead programming in the residence halls.
This role requires consistency, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead with both structure and care.
Schedule & Work Expectations
This is a student-facing residential role that requires flexibility and a strong on-site presence.
- Afternoon and evening shifts are required
- Weekend and/or overnight coverage may be required based on program needs
- You must be available during critical student hours when support is most needed
This role is not ideal for individuals seeking a traditional 9–5 schedule.

Key Responsibilities
Student Development & Mentorship
- Build trust-based relationships and serve as a consistent adult presence
- Teach and implement the HALLS life skills curriculum
- Support students’ emotional, social, and academic growth
- Guide students through challenges, decision-making, and conflict
Behavior Management & Accountability
- Maintain a structured, safe, and respectful environment
- Address and de-escalate behavior using appropriate strategies
- Hold students accountable while preserving dignity and respect
Academic & Life Skills Support
- Support study habits, organization, and goal-setting
- Reinforce leadership, independence, and teamwork
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and coach Resident Assistants
- Provide clear direction, feedback, and support
Programming & Engagement
- Plan and lead activities that support student development and community building
- Encourage participation in SEED programs and events
Operations & Safety
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-managed residence hall
- Follow all safety protocols and complete required documentation
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in education, social work, or related field
- 2–3 years of experience working with adolescents
- Experience in residential, school, or youth development settings preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
