What You'll Do:
- Assist personnel of other departments as a computer resource.
- Provide computer orientation to new and existing company staff.
- Configure virus and spam filters, fire walls, various servers and other devices.
- Provide technical assistance to system wide users.
- Update various software, including OS (Windows and Linux) and applications.
- Keep track of inventory of equipment and software.
- Share on-call responsibilities with other technicians to provide twenty-four (24)-hour coverage.
- Administer end-user desktop & workstations and supports end-user activities utilizing TCP/IP on a primarily Microsoft Windows-based local area network (LAN).
- Investigate user problems and identify their source; determine possible solutions; test and implement solutions.
- Install, configure and maintain personal computers, Windows networks, Apple workstations, file servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices and systems; add or upgrade and configure disk drives, printers and related equipment. Repair equipment; install software; maintain network.
- Perform and/or oversee hardware, software and application installation and upgrades.
- Maintain site licenses for department/organization.
- Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the end-users on the network.
What We're Looking For:
Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities
- A college degree in related field with one to two (1-2) years of help desk experience and three to five (3-5) years of networking experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.
- Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks and related hardware and software.
- Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures and techniques.
- Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operations problems.
- Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
Preferred Education, Experience and/or Abilities
- Oil and gas industry experience helpful.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
