Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff by performing a combination of administrative and clinical duties to ensure efficient patient care and smooth clinic operations. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and documenting chief complaints
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures
• Administer injections, medications, as directed by the provider
• Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection (e.g., blood draws, urine samples)
• Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed

Administrative Duties:

• Schedule patient appointments and manage provider calendars
• Verify patient information, insurance, and medical records
• Document patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Handle phone calls, prescription refills, and patient follow-ups
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
• Current certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred or required per state guidelines
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Prior clinical experience in a healthcare setting is a plus

Work Environment:

• Clinical setting such as a physician’s office, specialty clinic, or outpatient facility
• May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of patients or equipment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients throughout the day
• Manual dexterity for clinical tasks
• Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds as needed
