U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking a proven industry professional experienced Equipment Repair Technician to work on one of our projects in Southeast Virginia. This role will diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical construction, highway maintenance, grounds, and automotive equipment of all types and in varied locations. This is to be accomplished on a routine basis as outlined in the following responsibilities:

- Diagnosis and Repair - Diagnosing vehicle and equipment failures using electronic testing equipment, service and equipment repair manuals and on-line resources. Performing repairs and overhauls to all types of automobiles, equipment and tools to include engines, transmissions, driveline components, electrical and computer systems, fuel injection systems, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic components and air brakes. Recommending outsourcing for major repairs when needed.
- Virginia State Inspections - Performing safety inspections under the guidelines of the Virginia State Police inspection program for vehicles and equipment.
- Preventative Maintenance - Performing preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to PM schedule and guidelines. Making repairs as needed when deficiencies are found and/ or recommend outsourcing.
- Welding Repair and Fabrication - Designing, fabricating, modifying and welding components to repair, rebuild or replace parts.
- Emergency Operations - Preparing equipment for emergency operations. Making equipment repairs to reduce downtime during emergency operations to include on-the-road repairs.
- Information Processing and Paperwork - Preparing, processing, and maintaining required maintenance and repair documentation. Generating, completing and closing-out work orders in the computer system. Performing time and leave entry. Preparing parts requests. Completing paperwork for warranty inspections and repairs.
- Backup Fuel Site Manager – Receive Fuel deliveries, perform monthly fuel site inspections, ensure all paperwork is maintained in accordance with client policies in the absent of the fuel site manager. Maintain AFMP Class C Underground Storage Tank Operator and Fire Extinguisher certification.
- Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or USF Senior Project Manager.
Tools and supplies are provided at no cost to the employee.
Qualifications:Education:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Vocational or technical training in automotive and equipment repair and diagnostics preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for education. Demonstrated equivalent required.
- Minimum Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and DOT medical card. preferred or demonstrated ability to obtain within 11 months of hire.
- Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling certification preferred or demonstrated ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Virginia State Police Equipment Inspection License or demonstrated ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- AFMP Class C Underground Storage Tank Operator and Fire Extinguisher Certification or demonstrated ability to obtain within 11 months of hire.
- ASE certifications or demonstrated equivalent highly preferred.
- Flexible schedule (relates to a 24/7/365 operating environment).
- Knowledge of general shop procedures
- Knowledge of the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automotive, construction and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to operate various types of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication operations, and skilled in the use of cutting and welding equipment.
- Ability to independently perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of diesel and gasoline trucks and equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and equipment repair manuals, gauges and testing devices.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to solve problems, work independently and accomplish work tasks within rigid time constraints.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to shop operations.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools and advanced electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to obtain a minimum Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and DOT medical card within timeline established at time of hire and maintain thereafter.
- Ability to obtain the Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling certification within timeline established at time of hire and maintain thereafter.
- Ability to obtain a Virginia State Police Equipment Inspection License within timeline established at time of hire.
- Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
- 90-day probation period.
- Required VDOT/Industry training.
- Significant all-season/all-hour operating conditions.
- May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments.
- Work may occur outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic.
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather.
- The work environment is informal, both team and autonomy oriented, having routine tasks with variable pace and pressure.
- Weekend, evening, and overtime work may be required. Standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, lifting, carrying; frequently reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing can be expected.
Valid driver’s license is required. DMV records check is required. Pre-employment drug screen is required. Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check is required.
