Part-time, $18.00 an hour. Paid time off. Free museum passes and discounts. The purpose of this position is to greet guests, international delegates, VIPs, etc.; direct them appropriately; and/or notify appropriate staff of their arrival professionally and graciously.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Internal/External Correspondence & Communication
- Greet guests to the Center and contact appropriate Center personnel of their arrival.
- Receive and screen calls, referring callers to other departments or employees as necessary.
- Answer a variety of questions independently and take direct action on facility related calls and questions.
- Provide callers with information such as address, directions, company numbers, website, Space Camp registration information, etc.
- Maintain standard security protocol by following procedures, such as issuing visitor badges and monitoring the visitor logbook.
- Meet or exceed the Security Director’s expectations on accuracy and timeliness of all internal/external correspondence and other forms of communication.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of the Security Director for confidentiality of information.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Required Experience
- Computing experience with desire to gain knowledge and experience. Must have excellent English grammar and spelling ability to compose business correspondence. Must be able to handle a high stress environment with a consistently pleasant attitude.
- Computer Knowledge: Must be able to use a 101 key keyboard and possess knowledge of standard PC and Apple computers and Windows based operating systems; including Microsoft Office, calendar scheduling, internet research, and other required software applications on personal computer. Required to be proficient in use of the computer, software programs, other technology tools, and office equipment to perform a variety of administrative and technical tasks.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have exceptional initiative and the confidence to act independently on a variety of matters. Must be able to develop clear and comprehensive correspondence; meet and communicate with the public and employees at all levels of the organization using tact and poise; elicit cooperation from others; assimilate and understand information; maintain confidentiality, use good judgment and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Efficient skills in multi-tasking and prioritizing duties.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for extensive periods of time (6-8 hours) behind a desk.
- Walking, climbing (stairs) to other departments.
- Lifting and/or carrying up to 30-pound file/paper boxes.
- Bending, reaching, and/or kneeling to store/retrieve supplies.
- Wrist movements, seeing, and reading to operate computer terminal, office equipment, and handle various documents.
- Talking and hearing to assist guests, officials, and employees.
- This position deals extensively with guests and employees at all levels of the organization.
