RN - Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.LPN - The staff Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of the Nurse Director or designee, is responsible for the nursing care of assigned patients, and to prescribe, delegate and coordinate the patient care administered by staff. Included in such responsibility is the goal of assisting patients to move as rapidly, uneventfully and safely through their hospitalization period.
RN - Major Responsibilities:
1. Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
2. Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
3. Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
4. Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
5. Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
6. Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
RN - Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Current Massachusetts licensure and registration.
2. Completion of an accredited school of nursing program.
3. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
LPN - Major Responsibilities:
1. Uses Nursing process to assess and plan care.
2. Effectively performs Nursing tasks utilizing policy and procedure.
3. Functions effectively in all urgent and emergent situations.
4. Delegates effectively.
5. Coordinates exchange of information between staff, physicians and administration.
6. Manages the dynamics of changing flow and acuity of the unit.

1. Graduation and training from an accredited school of nursing with current license by the Massachusetts B.O.R.N. American Heart Association or equivalent B.L.S. certification for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation.

Preferred:
1. A minimum of one year of general medical-surgical experience is preferred.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
Hyperbaric RN:
This RN focuses on the administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician and is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. This RN is also designated as the HBO Safety Director.
In addition to a MA RN license, the following is required:
1. Be certified as a CHT, CHRN or DMT within 36 months of hire.
2. Must complete a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course within 6 months of hire.
