Solid foundational and accomplished skills for leading, developing, and implementing sound safety programs including areas such as lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined space, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, fall protection, scaffolding, warehousing safety, excavation, powered industrial vehicles, event safety, injury and illness investigation and reporting, shop safety (machine guarding), chemical hazard communication, hotwork safety, walking/working facility safety, noise, respiratory protection programs, ppe assessments, job hazard analysis, safety audit and inspection program implementation, and OSHA / Cal/OSHA regulations and requirements. Solid skills to organize, prioritize and complete projects within budget and time constraints. Skills to effectively direct and supervise subordinate staff who are assigned duties in different programs; skills to effectively integrate several highly regulated subject and program areas. Solid skills to appropriately, efficiently and effectively respond to emergencies and critical situations. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EH&S technical requirements, logistics, materials and operations, rules, regulations, laws, etc. Solid written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills, including strong skills to interact successfully with a widely diverse population. Thorough knowledge of occupational safety principles, hazard recognition, control methods, and program implementation in a complex institutional setting. This includes a strong working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, campus environmental health and safety requirements, and applicable UC policies and procedures. Ability to establish performance metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, analyze trends, and use data to drive priorities and continuous improvement. Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple projects within deadlines and available resources. Experience developing and delivering safety training, conducting inspections and audits, and preparing clear technical documentation and reports.
