The Opportunity:
Join our dynamic Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) team as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager (QA/QC). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects meet client expectations and are free from defects. You will handle design reviews, construction inspections, daily reporting, and provide field support to project managers. As the QA/QC Manager, you will coordinate with project teams—including project managers, clients, contractors, and consultants—to ensure project delivery adheres to safety standards and complies with approved design and contract documents.

Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Develop and implement proactive quality control plans tailored to specific projects.
Conduct regular site visits to inspect quality and safety, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Complete and submit comprehensive safety and quality assurance reports.
Identify and report deficiencies, escalating issues as necessary to maintain high-quality standards and safe work practices.
Represent the owner at project meetings to support the project manager in addressing quality and safety matters.
Construction Phase Management
Oversee field activities for construction and renovation projects, ensuring hands-on involvement across multiple, concurrent sites.
Ensure compliance with state and university policies, procedures, and guidelines, administering projects within authorized scope and budget.
Represent the project owner during key construction milestones, including utility interruptions, crane lifts, and rough-ins.
Manage tracking and receipt of owner-purchased materials and equipment not handled by the contractor.
Monitor construction schedules, address any delays, and time inspections with critical milestones.
Train contractors on university policies and procedures related to construction execution.
Conduct regular site visits to inspect quality and safety, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and contract documents, which may require climbing ladders, lifting, and walking for extended periods in a construction environment.
Project Support
Collaborate with project management staff to ensure compliance with state and university policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
Support contract management and administration by inspecting completed work percentages.
Monitor the implementation of approved project-specific standards deviations.
Represent the owner during punch list development and completion.
Oversee tracking and receipt of owner-purchased materials and equipment outside the contractor’s scope.
Review and verify project close-out documents for consistency with contract documents and specifications.
Participate in the design review process to ensure adherence to Design and Construction Standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience in quality assurance and control in construction projects, or a related field.
General Contractors License or Certification in Quality Control or Assurance (e.g., CQI, CQM) is preferred.
Proven experience in managing quality control for multiple, concurrent construction projects.
Experience in design review and contract management is a plus.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.
Ability to work extended hours based on project needs.
Capable of working in outdoor conditions, within differing climates and walking the grounds of the construction sites.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $88,713. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
