The position of Head Women’s Golf Coach in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (“the Department”) reports directly to UWL’s Director of Athletics. The coach will manage the daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate golf program competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (“WIAC”), with responsibilities including, but not limited to, planning, recruiting, coaching, developing, implementing, and administering of the women’s golf program (“UWL Women’s Golf”) to meet University and Department objectives. The coach must conduct themselves in such a way as to enhance respect for UWL, the Department, UWL Women’s Golf and UWL student-athletes.
This position will be filled as a 25% academic year appointment (9months).
- Evening and weekends hours are required.
- Travel for recruitment activities is required.
- The ability to have and maintain a valid driver’s license meeting the criteria for driving a vehicle on University/State business is required. Driver Authorization required upon hire.

Women's Golf Program Management
Administration of Women’s Golf Program
Adhere to all rules of the NCAA, WIAC, and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Establish, implement, and review written rules and policies specific to the golf team that identify clear expectations for the student-athletes participating on the team related to athletic commitment, academic performance, community involvement, and personal conduct.
Work with Deputy Director of Athletics to monitor operating budget and other financial accounts established for UWL Women’s Golf, with such funds used to pay for transportation, meals, lodging, equipment, and supplies.
In the administration of camps or clinics, work with UWL’s Camps Coordinator to schedule, staff, budget, and administer all camps associated with UWL Women’s Golf.
Schedule, prepare, and supervise all team travel, including transportation, practices, lodging, and meals.
Monitor the academic progress of the student-athletes on the golf team to ensure that regular, ongoing, and necessary progress is made toward the attainment of a UWL degree.
Develop and promote a team culture devoted to academic achievement and ensure an atmosphere supportive of, and conducive to, academic success.
Work, as necessary, with appropriate facility personnel on scheduling, maintenance and other matters related to program facilities. Reserve athletic facilities for games, practices, and special events, as required.
Collaborate with support personnel (athletics administration, athletic training, strength and conditioning, equipment, and facilities/grounds) to ensure the safety and preparation of the playing and practice areas for all students and staff.
Develop contest schedules in accordance with guidelines and academic calendars of university and in collaboration with scheduling authorities from WIAC.
Assist Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations by providing statistical, student-athlete, and staff information to ensure the prompt and accurate dissemination of such information to the public.
Promptly inform Deputy Director of Athletics of changes to schedules, rosters, and staff personnel, and of results of all home and away games, as needed.
Develop in- and off-season programs as permitted by applicable NCAA Bylaws and regulations.
Provide, promptly and accurately, information requested by the athletic administration staff, including eligibility and participation information.
Attend athletic department meetings.
Attend appropriate WIAC and/or NCAA meetings.
Attend job-related clinics and conferences.
Coaching
Plan and direct the development of student-athletes in the skills necessary for successful competition in the sport of golf.
Instruct and supervise volunteer, and student coaches in the principles and rules of the sport of golf, the NCAA, the WIAC, and UWL.
Develop and implement sport strategy independently or in consultation with assistant coaches.
Define and implement team and individual goals.
Maximize player and team performances by identifying team strengths and weaknesses.
Demonstrate positive sportsmanship by refraining from publicly criticizing student-athletes, university support staff, game officials, or opponents.
Recruiting
Develop and maintain a competitive program through, in part, the recruitment of quality student-
athletes.
Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recruiting activities within guidelines set by the NCAA, WIAC, and UWL.
Identify, observe, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes.
Develop and continually maintain recruiting records and logs.
Inform prospective student-athletes of opportunities related to education, career, and golf competition.
Oversee prospective student-athlete visits to ensure a well-structured, informative, and positive experience.
Provide Department and Admissions staff with desired information on all prospective student- athletes.
Athletic Training/Strength & Conditioning
Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken by all personnel involved with UWL Women’s Golf, including adherence to all athletic training policies and procedures.
Provide your assigned Certified Athletic Trainer with support, updated practice schedules, and information necessary for them to care for the student-athletes.
Work with and provide Strength and Conditioning Center Staff with support and information necessary for the proper conditioning of the student-athletes participating in golf.
Community Relations
Cultivate community relationships.
Enhance recognition of UWL Women’s Golf student-athletes through involvement in community activities.
Encourage the development and promotion of golf within La Crosse and the surrounding communities.
Design and implement community events involving golf student-athletes.
Serve as a resource to the community in areas of expertise.

- Bachelor's degree.
- Substantial golf coaching experience.
- The ability to have and maintain a valid driver’s license meeting the criteria for driving a vehicle on University/State business is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- Head coaching experience at the high school level or above OR assistant golf coaching at the intercollegiate or professional levels.
- Demonstrated experience in college recruiting.
