Duties
- Conduct administrative investigations involving allegations of irregularities, fraud, conflicts of interest, and improprieties on the part of members of the military service, civilian employees, and persons contracting with the Agency.
- Conduct investigations with extreme tact and discretion since premature disclosure of evidence could impede the investigation or unjustly affect the reputation of innocent persons.
- Analyze and evaluate evidence, distinguish fact from hearsay, and provide reports of investigations containing statements and summaries of facts based on evidential documents, records, and affidavits.
- Identify violations of Federal statutes, investigate wrongdoing, preserve evidence, ensure the Constitutional rights of suspects and witnesses during an investigation, and present findings applicable officials for action and/or prosecution.
- Plan and execute special inquiries and assignments originating from the requests by DODIG or Director, frequently involving sensitive matters, and may require coordination with other agencies.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must complete an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter.
- This is a drug testing position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience conducting administrative investigations to include planning, gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and/or writing reports of investigations.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.
Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
Education
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.

- This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense using hiring authority in 5 USC 9905.
