A Shuttle Driver at Valor Christian High School is responsible for safely transporting students on established routes while following all traffic laws and school transportation policies. This role includes conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for passengers. The driver represents the school positively, communicates effectively with students, families, and staff, and responds calmly to emergencies or unexpected situations. Additional responsibilities include keeping vehicles clean and fueled, reporting mechanical or safety concerns, supporting maintenance needs, tracking route and ridership information, and administering basic first aid when necessary.

The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, must have the ability to sit for extended periods and maintain alertness while driving. The work environment characteristics are varied and include in vehicle, on road, street, highway, and parking lots, in office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.

POSITION TYPE: A, Student-facing position. Traditional school calendar. August - May

HOURS PER WEEK: Part-time - Non Exempt. Not to exceed an average of 20 hours per week (advance approval required for any overtime work required). Frequent after school and evening hours required (approximately 3pm - 5:30pm)
