Who will you be working with?
In this role, you will work closely with the EHS Manager, who will provide direction, coaching, and support while helping you develop your safety and environmental knowledge. You will partner daily with employees, supervisors, managers, maintenance personnel, and other functional teams across both KRC facilities to promote a safe and compliant work environment.
You will serve as a visible safety resource on the shop floor, supporting employees with safety concerns, training activities, inspections, audits, incident reporting, and compliance initiatives. You will also coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to support site safety programs and employee safety-related services
How will you make the difference
As the Safety Technician I, you will play a critical role in strengthening KRC's safety culture by increasing EHS presence across both facilities and supporting proactive safety activities. You will help identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, coordinate training and compliance activities, and ensure safety concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
Your contributions will allow the EHS Manager to focus on strategic initiatives such as incident prevention, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement while ensuring employees receive consistent safety support and engagement throughout the facility.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Technology, or required.
- 0-3 years of experience in safety, manufacturing, warehouse, industrial, or related environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety principles.
- Ability to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and potential safety risks in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and shop floor observations.
- Basic knowledge of incident reporting, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and engage employees at all levels.
- Ability to maintain accurate training, inspection, and compliance records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a visible presence on the shop floor.
- Familiarity with EHS software systems, safety databases, or training management systems is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement concepts is a plus
What will your typical day look like?
Shop Floor Safety Support & Employee Engagement
- Increase EHS presence on the shop floor across both KRC facilities.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and partner with supervisors to address concerns promptly.
- Reinforce PPE requirements, safe work practices, and company safety expectations through daily employee interactions.
- Provide real-time coaching to employees and leaders on safety-related matters.
- Follow up on employee safety concerns, corrective actions, and reported hazards to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), high-risk work permit reviews, and lockout/tagout activities.
- Support heat stress prevention initiatives and employee engagement activities to promote a strong safety culture.
- Maintain a visible presence in production, warehouse, and yard areas to proactively identify hazards and strengthen employee engagement.
Safety Inspections, Audits & Compliance
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits throughout both buildings and report findings to the EHS Manager.
- Track audit findings, corrective actions, and compliance activities to ensure timely completion.
- Support OSHA compliance activities and maintain required safety documentation.
- Assist with maintaining OSHA logs and other EHS records
Training & New Hire Onboarding
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire safety orientations.
- Maintain employee training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Deliver and reinforce weekly safety communications and toolbox talks.
- Update employee bulletin boards and other safety communication platforms with current safety information.
Incident Response & EHS Administration
- Respond to first aid cases, minor incidents, and workplace safety concerns.
- Document incidents, hazards, near misses, and corrective actions.
- Support incident investigations by gathering facts, interviewing employees, and documenting findings.
- Manage follow-up activities within Gensuite and ensure action items are completed.
- Maintain safety metrics, reports, meeting logs, and compliance records.
Safety Program Coordination & Vendor Support
- Coordinate safety-related vendors, including PPE suppliers, safety footwear programs, uniforms, and vending services.
- Schedule and document Safety Committee meetings and support related activities.
- Support customer, contractor, regulator, and stakeholder visits related to EHS activities.
- Participate in leadership, staff, and operational meetings as the EHS representative when needed.
- Provide basic EHS coverage during the EHS Manager's absence

- Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes.

- Work is performed in office, manufacturing, warehouse, and outdoor environments.
- Frequent exposure to production equipment, forklift traffic, noise, dust, and active operations.
- Regular work in non-climate-controlled warehouse and outdoor areas, requiring the ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Significant time spent on the shop floor supporting safety, training, audits, and employee engagement.

The hourly rate for this role is currently $28-30 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
