The Columbia Heights Anchor program is a blend of mental health services and individualized education. The candidate will provide embedded classroom services and school-based mental health assessment, treatment, and prevention services to children and families as well as consultation and training for school staff withing the Columbia Heights School District. The School Based Therapist will provide both direct billable services and non-billable training, consultation and early intervention/prevention services. Additionally, they will participate in meetings and coordination with Washburn Center/school teams and collect/assess data on client progress.
Independent Licensure at LICSW, LPCC, LP or LMFT strongly preferred.
This is a full-time, 10-month contract position (43 weeks) aligned with the school year calendar. The role is not active during a 9-week summer break.
- Schedule: Full-time (1.0 FTE) during the 43-week school year, running from August 17, 2026 - June 14, 2027
- Summer Break: This position does not include employment during the summer months (approximately 9 weeks). Employees are not paid during this period.
- Benefits Continuation: At the end of each employment year, the employee will receive a COBRA notice, allowing them the option to continue health benefits coverage during the summer break at their own cost.
- Contract Renewal: This role is eligible for annual renewal.
- Facilitate social skills groups in the classroom setting as defined by the student’s IEP.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments
- Develop and implement a treatment plan with the family based on a diagnosis
- Provide individual and family therapy
- Engage parents and families in the learning space or therapeutic process with a culturally responsive framework
- Participate in IEP meetings
- Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
- Create a discharge plan
- Build a positive and engaging social and emotional learning environment that also embraces pluralism and multiculturalism
- Provide care coordination, including collaboration with parents, school staff, and other agencies
- Participate in classroom observations
- Provide teacher consultation and training
- Attend collaboration and planning meetings with school staff, program directors, and grant coordinators to review the status of the program and manage referrals to facilitate program development and the coordination of the program at the school
- Diagnostics assessments
- Treatment plan for each client
- Completion of progress notes
- Completion of required outcome instruments
- Discharge summaries
- Timely record keeping of all clinical activities and grant related services as defined
- Timely response of communications from the program director, the supervisor, or program support to ensure clear communication throughout the program
- All clinicians are to ensure Minnesota and HIPAA data privacy requirements are followed.
- Attend weekly supervision and team meetings, present case information and formulation, and identify questions for team meetings and supervision
- Receive regular clinical supervision as required under Rule 29
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision for interns as approved by the program supervisor based on licensure and experience and assist with providing training, feedback, and learning experience for program interns
- Maintain required CEUs
Education and Licensure Requirements:
- Master’s degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work (Required)
- Doctoral Degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work (Desired)
- A minimum of 3-5 years assessing, diagnosing and treating children and families (Required)
- Fully licensed or close to licensure in LICSW, LMFT, LPCC or LP (Required)
- Valid MN Licensure as a Mental Health Professional (Required)
Required technical skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of cultural diversity and the role of culture in the therapeutic process
- Adaptable to multiple workplace cultures
- Ability to work independently
- Understand when to ask questions
