Job Title: Bilingual Mental Health Specialist II/III
Reports To: Program Manager, Mental Health Services
Job Summary
Under supervision, the Mental Health Specialist provides mental health services, including individual and group counseling, case management, parent and staff consultations, referrals, and treatment plans for students with mental health needs. This position conducts mental health training for students, staff, and families.
Key Responsibilities
Providing mental health services, such as individual and group counseling, case management, and creating treatment plans for students.
Conducting mental health training for students, staff, and families.
Performing crisis intervention and risk assessments.
Collaborating with school staff and external partners.
Maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Adhering to ethical guidelines and regulations.
Providing bilingual support and translation assistance.
Additional Responsibilities:
I. Direct Mental Health Services:
Conduct intake assessments and develop treatment plans.
Provide individual and group counseling.
Provide crisis intervention and perform risk assessments.
Meet with students/clients regularly to provide counseling treatment and facilitate ongoing assessments of client progress.
Facilitate family engagement sessions in support of student progress.
Refer students/clients to outside specialists or agencies when necessary and upon discontinuing services in a school-based setting.
Diagnose and treat, as appropriate, as defined by district-specific needs, and under the guidance of a Wellness Together Clinical Supervisor, mental health disorders within scope of practice.
II. Case Management and Coordination:
Provide case management and communicate available services and resources.
Provide care coordination for referred students/clients.
Consult with school staff, including administrators, counselors, and teachers, to coordinate care for referred students/clients.
III. Training and Consultation:
Develop and deliver student, parent, and staff training with school site personnel.
Participate in parent and staff consultations.
IV. Meetings and Collaboration:
Attend SSTs, Section 504 meetings, and related student meetings as needed.
Participate in crisis response to events that occur on campus.
Participate in monthly staff meetings and required staff trainings.
Participate in individual and group supervision as scheduled and required by the BBS and/or University Practicum/Affiliation Agreement.
V. Documentation and Compliance:
Document and store individual and group counseling logs and notes of mental health treatment provided.
Maintain thorough records of students/clients meetings and progress.
Complete documentation to reimbursement standards as set forth by the Organization and the CYBHI Fee Schedule, including Medi-Cal and Private Insurance payers.
Gather student consent to record sessions and engage in supervision to review session recordings for growth and feedback.
Record sessions for review by the Wellness Together Clinical Supervisor when appropriate, and utilize only confidential, organization-approved practices and protocols.
VI. Professional and Ethical Conduct:
Operate ethically utilizing an evidence-based curriculum as supplied by the Organization, including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Engage directly with supervisor (clinical or otherwise) when navigating clinical, ethical, or school-based mental health considerations, as appropriate based on licensure.
Follow all safety protocols as set forth by the Organization.
Regularly attend Clinical Supervision with Wellness Together as required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
VII. Other Duties and Requirements:
Attend work consistently in person to ensure continuity of care for students/clients.
Other duties as necessary.
Provide bilingual support, including translation assistance, to students, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field.
Possesses registration in good standing under California BBS as an AMFT, ACSW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC
Experience working with youth having experienced trauma is preferred
Experience working within a school setting or educational institution is preferred
Graduate Program transcript and a copy of your registration information with the BBS

Provide mental health services to individuals or groups of students/clients, primarily utilizing CBT and ACT.
Plan, develop, and deliver programs and services to meet student mental health needs.
Involve and advise family members when appropriate.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients, including avoiding dual relationships.
Establish positive, trusting rapport with students/clients.
Operate from a Brief, Positive, Mission-Focused perspective at all times.
Operate within the scope of practice as set forth by industry standards and organizational standards.
II. Communication and Interpersonal Abilities:
Read, interpret, apply, and explain regulations, policies, and procedures.

III. Administrative and Technical Abilities:
Maintain electronic case records that are in accordance with HIPAA Guidelines.
Operate various office equipment, computer, EHR, and software programs.
IV. Language Abilities:
Provide mental health services to individuals or groups of students in English and a second language.
Refer students and families to community resources, support groups, and other social service agencies, which includes providing bilingual resources and material.
Read, interpret, apply, and explain regulations, policies, and procedures in a second language.
Support colleagues with translation assistance to best support students and families receiving services.
Proficient in English (required).
Fluent in a second language (required).
Bilingual Compensation: As a Bilingual Mental Health Specialist, you will receive an increased rate of pay to complete the additional tasks required to serve bilingual students and support your fellow Mental Health Specialists.
Communication:
Effective verbal communication strategies in both English and the second language.
Correct use of grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation in both English and the second language.
Service Delivery: Ability to provide mental health services to individuals or groups of students in both English and the second language.
Resource Provision: Ability to refer students and families to community resources, support groups, and other social service agencies, including providing bilingual resources and materials.
Interpretation and Application: Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain regulations, policies, and procedures in the second language.
Translation Support: Ability to support colleagues with translation assistance to best serve students and families.
Work Environment
