CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are committed to caring for our patients with purpose and integrity and providing our team members with the support they need.
We are looking for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant. We recognize the hard work and initiative of our Medical Assistants (MAs). MAs providing direct patient care may earn a quarterly bonus up to $500 by meeting or exceeding quality and productivity measures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse
- Perform phlebotomy, and process specimens for patients of all ages
- Set up medical examination rooms, prepare and administer medications and vaccines
- Obtain vital signs and patient information
- Obtain EKG’s, assist with wound care and minor surgical procedures e.g., removal of benign cyst
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff
- Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant - required
- OR, 3 to 5 years as medical assistant in an outpatient health care setting
- Postsecondary technical course(s) helpful, but not required
- Medical Assisting education
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Electronic Health Records systems
