About the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program
Westfield State University's Nursing program includes a traditional 4-year pre-licensure pathway, an RN to BSN completion program, and a newly launched Concurrent RN to BSN program - the first of its kind in Massachusetts. The program has been recognized as a Nursing College of Distinction in demonstrating consistent outcomes such as NCLEX pass rates well above the national average. Faculty are tenure-track and represented by the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA). General Statement of Duties / Position Overview
The inaugural Program Administrator is a key leader responsible for the overall administration and quality of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program. Reporting to the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education and aligns with, supports, and works closely with the Department Chair to ensure the level of collaboration needed while maintaining the appropriate reporting structure.

Essential:
Staff Oversight
- Supervise program staff, including assigning work, monitoring workload, evaluating performance in collaboration with the Department Chair, and identifying professional development opportunities.
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, orientation, and retention of program personnel in collaboration with the Dean, Department Chair, and Human Resources.
- Recommend personnel actions, including performance improvement strategies, recognition, and staffing adjustments consistent with University policies.
- Approve work schedules, monitor staffing needs, and ensure adequate program coverage to support operational and accreditation requirements.
Personnel Administration & Compliance
- Monitor and maintain faculty, staff, adjunct, and clinical preceptor licensure, certifications, credentialing, and other regulatory requirements necessary to maintain program and accreditation compliance.
- Maintain confidential personnel records and documentation related to licensure, credentialing, and other employment matters in accordance with University policy.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and University leadership regarding personnel actions, including participation in management and resolution of grievances; employment processes, and interpretation of University policies affecting program operations.
- Assist the Department Chair and Dean with employee relations matters by preparing documentation, maintaining confidential records, and participating in discussions regarding employee performance and operational staffing needs.
- Exercise sound judgment when handling confidential personnel, student, accreditation, and organizational information.
Leadership & Decision Making
- Provide administrative leadership for the PMHNP Program by exercising independent judgment in operational planning, resource allocation, and program administration.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate administrative procedures that improve program effectiveness, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Advise the Dean and Department Chair regarding staffing needs, operational priorities, strategic planning, and program effectiveness.
- Serve as the program's administrative representative on university committees and workgroups involving graduate education, accreditation, and program operations.
Accreditation & Risk Management
- Ensure ongoing compliance with state licensure requirements, national certification standards, and accreditation expectations for faculty, clinical preceptors, and program operations.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions to the Dean and Department Chair to mitigate institutional risk and maintain accreditation standards.
- Coordinate program assessment, accreditation documentation, and continuous quality improvement activities related to curriculum, admissions, clinical education, and student outcomes.
- Submit required accreditation documentation, including annual reports, interim updates, and notices of programmatic changes
- Lead preparation for CCNE site visits, including narrative writing, evidence collection, and team coordination
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program
- Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP, PhD, or equivalent) or matriculated in a doctoral program
- Current national board PMHNP certification
- Current unencumbered licensure, or eligible for licensure, as an RN and APRN in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 2 years of academic experience and 3 years of clinical practice in psychiatric mental health
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of CCNE and NONPF standards and the self-study process
- At least three (3) years of full-time experience in higher education
- Experience with competency-based and online education

Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
