Summary
The Sonographer works directly with the attending physicians, and reports to the Clinic Manager, in order to provide the support needed to give excellent reproductive healthcare. As a member of the Whole Woman’s Health team, the ideal candidate must be committed to providing care that involves the mind, soul, heart, and body.
Essential Functions
- Obstetric and gynecologic sonographers will specialize in intrauterine imaging, including gestational dating and identification of fetal development.
- Intraoperative imaging during office procedures
- Review patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions.
- Keep patient records and adjusts/maintains equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Comply with safety, infection control, and quality improvement polices/procedures.
- Preparing the diagnostic equipment before appointments
- Discussing the procedure and medical history with patients
- Positioning the patient to produce the highest-quality images
- Ensuring the generated images are clear and capture the necessary information
Experience and General Requirements
- Obstetric and gynecologic imaging experience required
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, basic physics, patient care, and medical ethics.
- Experience with infection control and quality improvements practices in order to maintain a safe work environment.
- Skilled in communication and interpersonal interactions; able to establish and maintain effective work relationships with patients, medical staff, management, and peers.
- Ability to gather and analyze patient data and explain technical procedures and results to patients in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Understanding of empathy, with the ability to calm patients who may be nervous about the procedure.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must possess the ability and capability to perform any task in the office.
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs or more, be able to physically move through the office unaided.
- Must have excellent visual and hearing acuity.
