FLSA Status: Exempt
Jewell College invites applications for a full-time Simulation Coordinator and
Instructor/Assistant Professor of Nursing beginning August 2026. This is a full-time, renewable,
three-year, non-tenure-track faculty appointment.
The successful candidate will provide leadership for the planning, implementation, evaluation,
and continuous improvement of simulation-based learning experiences while serving as a
member of the undergraduate nursing faculty. This position supports the integration of
simulation across the curriculum to promote clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication,
and professional practice.
In addition to coordinating the Simulation Center, the successful candidate will teach
undergraduate nursing courses consistent with departmental needs and individual expertise,
including didactic, laboratory, clinical, and simulation instructions. Primary teaching
responsibilities are expected to include Adult Health I: Chronic Conditions, with opportunities to
teach additional nursing courses as assigned.
Faculty rank will be commensurate with academic preparation and teaching experience.
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for Missouri licensure
- Teaching experience in prelicensure nursing education or equivalent clinical education experience
- Experience in simulation-based nursing education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Experience using learning management systems and instructional technologies.
- Experience teaching medical-surgical nursing and/or undergraduate Adult Health nursing courses.
- Experience supporting simulation quality initiatives, accreditation, or endorsement processes.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Faculty Responsibilities
- Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate nursing courses consistent with departmental needs and then candidate’s expertise, including:
- Adult Health I: Chronic Conditions
- Simulation
- Clinical and laboratory instruction
- Teach didactic, laboratory, clinical and simulation courses.
- Develop engaging learning experiences that promote clinical reasoning, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice.
- Evaluate student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Serve as an academic advisor, as assigned.
Simulation Leadership
- Coordinate and oversee simulation activities within the Department of Nursing.
- Collaborate with faculty to design, implement and evaluate simulation experiences that support course and program outcomes.
- Oversee scheduling, operation, and utilization of the Nursing Simulation Center.
- Maintain simulation equipment, technology, supplies, and inventory.
- Assist with strategic planning, budgeting, and long-range development of simulation resources.
- Recruit, train, and supervise simulation assistants, standardized patients, student workers, and other personnel as appropriate.
- Coordinate faculty development related to simulation pedagogy and technologies.
- Maintain the department’s INACSL endorsement by overseeing compliance with endorsement standards and leading endorsement renewal activities.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and engagement in simulation and nursing education best practice.
