Responsibilities
- Develop lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards and each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Implement IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans
- Assess student progress using formal and informal assessment methods
- Plan and deliver individualized, small-group, and whole-class instruction
- Foster an engaging classroom environment that supports academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth
- Prepare instructional materials, assignments, and assessments
- Maintain accurate attendance, progress monitoring, and program records
- Support students in developing social-emotional skills, self-regulation, and problem-solving abilities
- Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and families
- Direct and supervise assigned Teacher Aide(s)
- Utilize Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques when necessary to maintain a safe learning environment
Qualifications
- New York State Students with Disabilities (SWD) or Applicable Content Area Teaching Certification required
- Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Commitment to building meaningful relationships with students
