This position supports the work of the YMCA of the North Shore, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team, with a strong focus on recruitment coordination and talent development initiatives.
Working closely with the HR Recruiter and Talent Development Director, this role helps ensure efficient hiring processes, organized HR operations, and a positive candidate and employee experience across the association.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment Coordination
Assist with recruitment workflows, including posting positions and tracking applicants within HR systems
Coordinate interview scheduling, phone screens, and candidate communications
Communicate with applicants regarding application steps, interviews, and hiring updates
Support candidate correspondence including reference checks, denial communications, and hiring documentation
HR Communications & Project Support
Assist in creating recruitment materials, flyers, newsletters, and internal announcements
Support employee engagement and HR communication initiatives
Assist with HR projects such as job description updates, onboarding communications, and training coordination
Administrative Support
Provide administrative support including scheduling, document preparation, and file organization
Monitor HR recruitment inboxes and route inquiries to appropriate team members
Support departmental initiatives and special HR projects as assigned

✅ Qualifications
Associate degree preferred; equivalent education and administrative experience will be considered
1+ year of administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources, recruitment, or office operations
Proficiency with Google Workspace; experience with HRIS or applicant tracking systems preferred
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally while maintaining confidentiality
