Essence of Position
To provide guidance and empowerment to Freight Crew associates, model how to prepare the store for our guests, actively engage guests, and ensure they receive unparalleled hospitality and professional service.

- Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers in the overall stocking and freight handling function of the store.
Tasks of Position
The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
- Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service and leadership.
- Promoting sales and exceptional service through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, samples, and discussing current promotions and service information while on the sales floor or in the check stand. (Examples while on the sales floor may include: ordering products for special requests, offering special deals on case orders, locating products for guests throughout the store). (Examples while in the check stand may include: asking guests if they need stamps or ice, chatting about Yokes signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information on reusable bag rebates).
- Performing inventory, ordering merchandise, supplies, and equipment, comparing records with merchandise ordered, reporting discrepancies, and maintaining correct inventory levels.
- Directing, coordinating, and participating in unloading freight from trucks, breaking down mixed pallets and organizing for stocking, filling shelves, facing product, cleaning aisles, back room, or other work area, assuring any debris from stocking is remove promptly, inspecting stocked merchandise to ensure displays meet standards, recommending advertising display layouts, and additions or deletions of merchandise.
- Providing in-service training to all new personnel ensuring they learn exceptional guest service, special features of the grocery department, all equipment in a correct and safe manner including: com-line, phone, baler, box cutter, FM unit (handheld), pallet jack, six wheelers, symbol unit, cash register, and trash compactor, and all tasks to assure the successful operation of the freight department.
- Identifying and supporting the development of associates who show promise or interest in increased responsibility.

- Finding a way to make our guests happy.
- Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety and guest services.
- Participating actively in the Grocery Departments accident reduction plan including: cleaning floors, sanitizing, and recognizing shelf order, safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, case temperatures, and storing regulations.

This positions supervisory responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of associates on the freight crew by performing all duties personally, or through secondary personnel.
- Performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance in a timely manner; rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Possessing and displaying excellent leadership and communication skills in handling associate matters.
- Implementing and enforcing company policies.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED; or a minimum of one years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Reads, analyzes, and interprets general business documents. Writes reports and business correspondences. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with all guests, vendors, and associates, under all circumstances.
Mathematical Skills
Performs mathematical skills in order to manage a profitable freight operation including concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.
Reasoning Ability
Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions in written or oral form. Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Other Qualifications
Meets the state minimum requirement to work baler and trash compactor.
Must be at minimum 21-years-old.

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations
Most positions within Yokes require physical effort to varying degrees. As such, associates are expected to be mindful of practicing Yokes safety standards at all times. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates are required to report accidents within 24 hours.
