Align your licensure before applying
Advocates operates under state licensing requirements, so confirm your LCSW or LICSW credential is valid in Massachusetts before you apply. If your license is from another country, research the state board's foreign credential evaluation process early.
Target programs matching your clinical specialty
Advocates runs distinct programs across mental health, developmental disabilities, and crisis services. Apply to openings that match your documented clinical focus, since H-1B specialty occupation approval depends on a clear degree-to-role connection.
Search verified Clinical Social Work openings on Migrate Mate
Finding roles where sponsorship is genuinely available takes more than a keyword search. Use Migrate Mate to filter Clinical Social Work jobs at Advocates by visa type, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship has already been confirmed.
Prepare a supervision and hours log for credentialing
Advocates clinical roles often require documented supervised hours for licensure verification. Compile a complete log of your post-degree supervised hours before interviews, since gaps or missing records can delay both hiring decisions and the LCA filing process.

Does Advocates sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Social Workers?
Yes, Advocates has sponsored H-1B visas for Clinical Social Work positions. H-1B sponsorship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which clinical social work typically satisfies given the master's degree requirement. Your employer files the H-1B petition with USCIS on your behalf, so sponsorship must be confirmed at the offer stage.
How do I apply for Clinical Social Work jobs at Advocates?
You can browse open Clinical Social Work positions at Advocates through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on openings where sponsorship is available. From there, applications typically go through Advocates' own careers portal. Tailoring your application to the specific program area, such as crisis services or disability support, strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types are commonly used for Clinical Social Work roles at Advocates?
Advocates has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for clinical roles. H-1B is the most common long-term work authorization path. F-1 OPT and CPT apply to recent graduates still within their authorized training period. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying social work occupations under the USMCA agreement.
What qualifications does Advocates expect for Clinical Social Work positions?
Most Clinical Social Work roles at Advocates require a master's degree in social work from an accredited program and active licensure, typically at the LCSW or LICSW level in Massachusetts. Some positions accept candidates working toward licensure under supervision. Relevant clinical experience in community mental health, crisis intervention, or developmental disability services is commonly expected and strengthens visa sponsorship eligibility.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship through Advocates?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so your offer and paperwork need to be finalized before the March registration window opens. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date against this calendar. USCIS offers premium processing for faster adjudication, which your employer can elect to reduce uncertainty during the wait.
