Tailor your resume to AutoNation's QE scope
AutoNation's Quality Engineer roles emphasize dealership operations, service process audits, and OEM compliance standards. Frame your experience around process improvement methodologies like IATF 16949 or APQP rather than pure manufacturing plant QA to match their automotive retail context.
Target dealership-adjacent quality experience first
AutoNation hires Quality Engineers across regional service centers, not just corporate. Applying to field-based postings in markets where they operate high-volume service operations can shorten your path to an offer compared to competing for centralized corporate roles.
Verify your visa type aligns with the role before applying
AutoNation has sponsored H-1B and TN visas for engineering roles. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm the Quality Engineer position is classified as a STEM-eligible role so your employer can file a 24-month OPT extension through E-Verify before your initial OPT period expires.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Once you reach the offer stage, ask HR directly whether the role is pre-approved for H-1B sponsorship or requires separate internal authorization. Large automotive employers often route sponsorship decisions through workforce planning teams, not the hiring manager, so early clarity prevents late surprises.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, you must have an offer in hand before USCIS's registration window opens in March. Build your AutoNation application timeline backward from that window so your hiring and onboarding process completes with enough lead time for USCIS filing.

Find Quality Engineer at AutoNation JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AutoNation sponsor H-1B visas for Quality Engineers?
Yes, AutoNation has sponsored H-1B visas for Quality Engineer roles. Sponsorship is handled through their HR and legal teams, not at the hiring manager level, so you'll want to confirm sponsorship eligibility explicitly during the offer process. Cap-subject candidates need an offer in place before USCIS's March registration window to be included in that year's lottery.
How do I apply for Quality Engineer jobs at AutoNation?
You can find open Quality Engineer positions through AutoNation's careers portal or by using Migrate Mate to filter for AutoNation roles that support your specific visa type. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect automotive quality standards like IATF 16949, APQP, or PPAP, since AutoNation's QE scope spans service operations and supplier compliance, not just manufacturing.
Which visa types does AutoNation commonly sponsor for Quality Engineers?
AutoNation has sponsored H-1B and TN visas for engineering talent, and they participate in E-Verify, which makes them eligible to support F-1 OPT and the 24-month STEM OPT extension. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications without going through the H-1B lottery, making it a faster path if you're eligible.
What qualifications does AutoNation expect for Quality Engineer roles?
AutoNation's Quality Engineer postings typically require a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related technical field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B purposes. Practical experience with quality management systems, root cause analysis, and automotive compliance frameworks carries significant weight. Familiarity with dealership service operations or OEM quality standards strengthens your application beyond the baseline degree requirement.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for Quality Engineer roles at AutoNation?
From offer to work authorization, timelines depend on your visa type. TN status can be obtained at the border or port of entry and is often resolved within days of an offer. H-1B sponsorship for cap-subject candidates requires USCIS lottery selection in April and a start date no earlier than October 1. USCIS premium processing can reduce the petition adjudication window to around 15 business days once a petition is filed.
