How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Baker Botts Visa Sponsorship USA
Target roles that align with sponsored visa categories
Baker Botts sponsors H-1B and Green Card visas, which typically support attorneys, legal professionals, and specialized staff roles. Focus your applications on positions where a qualifying degree in a specific field is a stated requirement, not a preference.
Understand Big Law's hiring timeline
Law firms like Baker Botts follow structured recruiting cycles, especially for associate attorneys. The H-1B cap deadline in April means timing your offer acceptance and onboarding matters, starting conversations well before March is strongly advisable.
Highlight your bar admission status clearly
For attorney roles, Baker Botts will want to know where you're admitted to practice. If you're internationally trained, clarify your LL.M. and any U.S. bar admission upfront, it directly affects whether sponsorship is feasible for the role.
Don't overlook business and administrative professional roles
Sponsorship at law firms isn't limited to attorneys. Business services roles in finance, technology, and operations can qualify for H-1B if the position requires a specialized degree. Check whether the specific role you're targeting meets that threshold.
Use verified sponsorship data when browsing open roles
Not every job posting discloses sponsorship eligibility upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time when targeting firms like Baker Botts with a confirmed track record.
Ask about Green Card sponsorship policy during interviews
Baker Botts has sponsored Green Cards alongside H-1B visas. For candidates thinking long-term, asking about the firm's Green Card policy during the offer stage, not after, gives you clarity before committing to a position.

Does Baker Botts sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Baker Botts sponsors H-1B visas. The firm has an active sponsorship history across H-1B and Green Card categories, making it one of the more reliable sponsoring employers in Big Law. H-1B sponsorship at Baker Botts has primarily supported attorney and specialized professional roles, though business services positions may also qualify depending on the degree requirement of the role.
What visa types does Baker Botts sponsor?
Baker Botts sponsors H-1B and employment-based Green Card visas (EB-2 and EB-3), and the firm also works with candidates on F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN status. This range of visa types reflects a sponsorship approach that accommodates both early-career candidates transitioning from student visas and experienced professionals seeking long-term work authorization.
Which departments or roles at Baker Botts are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Attorney roles, particularly associates in practice groups like corporate, litigation, and energy, are the most common recipients of H-1B sponsorship at a firm like Baker Botts. Candidates with LL.M. degrees and U.S. bar admission are well-positioned. Business services professionals in technology, finance, or compliance may also qualify if the role requires a specialized degree field.
How do I time my application to maximize my chances of H-1B sponsorship at Baker Botts?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year, with a lottery typically held shortly after. To be included, you need a job offer in hand before that window opens. For Big Law firms like Baker Botts, this means targeting fall recruiting for associate roles or locking in business services offers by late January. Missing the cap cycle means waiting a full year.
How do I find open roles at Baker Botts that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you browse open positions at Baker Botts filtered by verified sponsorship history, so you're not guessing whether the firm actually sponsors. Look for roles that specify a degree requirement in a defined field, those are most likely to support an H-1B petition. Reaching out to Baker Botts's legal recruiting team directly to confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying is also worth doing.
