Align Your Resume to Project Delivery
BKF operates as a consulting firm, so frame your controls experience around project outcomes, not just system specs. Highlight cross-discipline coordination and client-facing deliverables, since consulting employers weigh those heavily when evaluating sponsored candidates.
Target Roles Matching Your Degree Field
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship through PERM requires your degree to align with the job's specialty occupation definition. Before applying, confirm your engineering degree field maps cleanly to the Controls Engineer duties BKF lists, or your petition could face a PERM audit.
Ask About Sponsorship Timelines Early
PERM-based Green Card sponsorship at consulting firms often starts after you've demonstrated performance on the job. Ask during the offer stage whether sponsorship begins at hire or after a set tenure, so you can plan around your current visa status and any grace period constraints.
Prepare Documentation for a Specialty Occupation Filing
Gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if your credential is from outside the U.S., and a detailed employment history before your offer stage. USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims for consulting roles, and incomplete records slow petition preparation significantly.
Search BKF Controls Openings Through Migrate Mate
BKF posts Controls Engineer roles across multiple locations and project types. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for BKF openings that include sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where the hiring team has already committed to the immigration pathway.
Clarify Prevailing Wage Before Signing
DOL requires employers to pay the prevailing wage for your specific role and location during PERM and any subsequent H-1B or Green Card filing. Confirm the offered salary meets that threshold upfront, since a wage below the DOL-certified level can invalidate the entire petition.

Find Controls Engineer at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Controls Engineers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Controls Engineers is focused on employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B transfers. If you're currently on an H-1B with another employer and targeting BKF, it's worth asking directly during the interview process whether they'll initiate a transfer, since consulting firms vary on this by role and project need.
Which visa types are commonly used for Controls Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored Controls Engineers through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories. Both pathways require a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL, followed by an I-140 petition with USCIS. EB-2 typically requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 applies to roles requiring a standard bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
What qualifications and experience does BKF Engineers expect for Controls Engineer roles?
BKF's Controls Engineer roles sit within a consulting and professional services context, so they generally expect candidates with a relevant engineering degree, hands-on experience with control systems and automation, and the ability to manage deliverables across multi-discipline project teams. Experience in infrastructure or public works projects tends to align well with BKF's core service areas and client base.
How do I apply for Controls Engineer jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can browse current Controls Engineer openings at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your immigration needs. When you apply, tailor your application to reflect consulting-specific experience, since BKF evaluates candidates on project delivery and cross-functional collaboration, not just technical credentials alone.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers is sponsoring my Green Card?
PERM labor certification with the DOL typically takes six to twelve months before BKF can file your I-140 with USCIS. If your priority date is backlogged under EB-2 or EB-3, the full timeline to a Green Card can extend several years. Clarify with BKF at the offer stage when they intend to initiate the process and whether they'll bridge your status with visa extensions while the petition is pending.
