Frame your credentials around USCIS specialty occupation standards
Customer Engineer roles at consulting firms like BKF require a directly related engineering degree to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria. A civil, structural, or environmental engineering degree is far stronger than a general STEM credential when petitions get scrutinized.
Target BKF's active project regions in your application
BKF operates heavily across California and the Pacific Northwest. Applying to offices tied to active land development or infrastructure work signals genuine fit and increases your odds of reaching a hiring manager who can champion sponsorship internally.
Understand the difference between EB-2 and EB-3 timelines
BKF sponsors through employment-based Green Card categories, and your country of birth determines which priority date backlog applies to you. Indian and Chinese nationals face significantly longer waits under EB-2 and EB-3 than candidates from other countries.
Ask about PERM filing timing before accepting an offer
The PERM labor certification process, filed with DOL, can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition even begins. Confirm during the offer stage whether BKF initiates PERM early in employment or only after a probationary period ends.
Search for open Customer Engineer roles using Migrate Mate
BKF Engineers lists Customer Engineer positions across multiple office locations at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter for currently open roles with confirmed sponsorship history so you're applying to live opportunities, not stale postings.
Document client-facing project experience before interviews
BKF Customer Engineers typically manage client relationships alongside technical deliverables. Bring documented examples of projects where you coordinated between design teams and external stakeholders, since that dual competency is what distinguishes candidates who move to offer.

Find Customer Engineer at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Customer Engineers?
BKF Engineers' primary documented sponsorship path for Customer Engineers runs through employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B. If you're currently on a nonimmigrant work visa such as an H-1B held through a prior employer, BKF may be able to transfer your petition, but you should confirm directly with their HR team whether they initiate new H-1B filings during the annual USCIS cap season.
Which visa types are commonly used for Customer Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored Customer Engineers through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories. EB-2 generally applies to roles requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Both require PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications or experience are expected for a Customer Engineer at BKF Engineers?
BKF typically expects Customer Engineers to hold a bachelor's degree or higher in civil, structural, or environmental engineering, along with demonstrated experience in land development or infrastructure projects. Client management experience matters as much as technical output. Candidates who can show they've coordinated across project teams and external clients tend to stand out in BKF's consulting environment.
How do I apply for Customer Engineer jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can find currently open Customer Engineer positions at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by confirmed sponsorship history so you can focus on roles where international candidates are genuinely considered. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect project-based deliverables and client-facing responsibilities, since BKF's consulting model values both technical and relationship management skills.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers is sponsoring my Green Card?
Once BKF agrees to sponsor, the process typically starts with PERM labor certification at the DOL, which alone can take 12 to 18 months. After PERM approval, USCIS adjudicates the I-140 petition, and then you wait for a priority date to become current before filing for adjustment of status. Depending on your country of birth, the full process can extend several years, so starting discussions early in your employment matters significantly.
