Highlight retail vendor management experience upfront
Dollar General's account management teams work directly with consumer goods suppliers on replenishment, pricing, and category strategy. Frame your resume around measurable vendor outcomes, not just coordination tasks, to clear the specialty occupation threshold for H-1B petitions.
Target roles posted through Dollar General's corporate careers portal
Corporate buyer and account management openings at Dollar General's Goodlettsville headquarters are more likely to involve formal sponsorship pipelines than field or distribution roles. Search specifically under the Merchandising and Procurement categories when filtering postings.
Confirm your degree field matches the role description
USCIS scrutinizes whether your specific degree aligns with the posted job duties, not just that you hold a bachelor's degree. A business, supply chain, or marketing degree strengthens an H-1B specialty occupation argument for account management far more than a general studies background.
Initiate the LCA conversation early in the offer stage
Dollar General must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition can be submitted to USCIS. Asking during the offer stage, not after signing, gives HR enough lead time to engage their immigration counsel without disrupting your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Dollar General openings filtered by visa type
Searching broadly misses roles that match your sponsorship situation. Migrate Mate lets you filter Assistant Account Manager openings by the specific visa categories Dollar General sponsors, so you're only applying where your status actually fits.
Plan around OPT and STEM extension windows if you're on F-1
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a potential 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Starting at Dollar General during OPT means your employer needs to be E-Verify enrolled, which Dollar General is, but confirm this applies to the specific hiring entity before accepting an offer.

Does Dollar General sponsor H-1B visas for Assistant Account Managers?
Yes, Dollar General sponsors H-1B visas for account management roles, particularly those based at its corporate headquarters in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. These positions typically involve supplier coordination, category planning, and vendor negotiations, which can satisfy the specialty occupation requirement when tied to a relevant bachelor's degree. Sponsorship is handled through Dollar General's HR and legal teams on a case-by-case basis.
Which visa types does Dollar General commonly sponsor for Assistant Account Manager roles?
Dollar General sponsors H-1B petitions for qualifying corporate roles and supports F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, including those on STEM extensions. For longer-term permanent residence pathways, the company has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card cases for account management functions. TN status is also an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in business-class occupations that align with account management duties.
What qualifications does Dollar General expect for Assistant Account Manager roles?
Dollar General typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, marketing, or a related field, combined with experience in retail buying, vendor management, or consumer goods. Familiarity with planogram tools, replenishment systems, or category analytics is a practical differentiator. Candidates who can demonstrate experience working directly with suppliers or supporting procurement decisions tend to advance further in the interview process.
How do I apply for Assistant Account Manager jobs at Dollar General?
You can apply through Dollar General's official careers portal, filtering under Merchandising or Procurement for corporate-level account management openings. To specifically target roles where visa sponsorship is available, browse listings on Migrate Mate, which filters Dollar General openings by the visa categories the company sponsors. Applying directly through the corporate portal, rather than third-party aggregators, keeps your application in Dollar General's primary review pipeline.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing an H-1B through Dollar General?
H-1B petitions for new cap-subject employees must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, following the annual lottery in March. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, your authorization needs to bridge that gap. Engage Dollar General's HR team early so they can initiate the DOL Labor Condition Application process well before the USCIS filing window opens, as LCA certification alone can take two to four weeks.
