Align your resume to retail sales language
Dollar General's Sales roles emphasize inventory management, customer throughput, and store-level metrics. Frame your experience around those outcomes specifically, not generic sales figures, so hiring managers recognize your fit before sponsorship even comes up.
Target store management pipeline roles
Dollar General frequently fills Sales positions through its store manager and assistant manager tracks. Applying to these pipeline roles, rather than individual contributor listings, puts you in front of the teams most likely to initiate a sponsorship conversation.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your interview
Dollar General operates as a federal contractor and uses E-Verify to confirm work authorization. Know your current status and authorization documents before the offer stage so you're not caught flat-footed when onboarding paperwork starts.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Sales roles by sponsorship history
Searching Dollar General's full job board doesn't tell you which listings are realistically open to sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to surface Sales openings at Dollar General filtered by visa sponsorship track record so you apply where it counts.
Expect PERM for permanent residency pathways
If Dollar General moves you toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card from a Sales role, the PERM labor certification process requires DOL to verify no qualified U.S. workers were available. Understand that timeline runs 12 to 24 months before USCIS even receives your immigrant petition.

Find Sales at Dollar General JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Dollar General sponsor H-1B visas for Sales roles?
Yes, Dollar General has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Sales positions. Sponsorship is more common for roles that carry specialty occupation qualifications, such as Sales management or analyst-adjacent functions, than for entry-level store associate positions. If you're targeting a role that requires a relevant bachelor's degree, you're in a stronger position to initiate that conversation with their HR team.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Dollar General?
You can apply directly through Dollar General's careers portal, where Sales roles are listed by location and function. If you need visa sponsorship, filter for roles at the management or district level, since those are more likely to support work authorization. Migrate Mate also surfaces Dollar General's Sales openings filtered by sponsorship history, so you can prioritize applications where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Which visa types does Dollar General commonly use for Sales positions?
Dollar General has sponsored H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT candidates for Sales roles, and has also filed EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant petitions for longer-term employees. TN is available only to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. F-1 OPT is typically the entry point for recent graduates before a potential H-1B sponsorship in a subsequent lottery cycle.
What qualifications does Dollar General expect for sponsored Sales roles?
For H-1B eligibility, the Sales role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation, which generally means a bachelor's degree in a directly related field is a standard requirement, not a preference. Dollar General's sponsored Sales positions tend to require backgrounds in business, retail management, or a related discipline. Roles with general 'customer service' framing are less likely to meet USCIS's specialty occupation threshold than structured Sales management positions.
How do I time my application around the H-1B lottery if I'm targeting Dollar General?
H-1B registrations open in March each year, with USCIS conducting the lottery shortly after. To have Dollar General file a petition on your behalf, you need a signed offer before the registration window closes. Start engaging with Dollar General's recruiting team no later than January or February so there's enough time to finalize an offer before the March deadline. If you miss the lottery, TN or continued OPT may bridge the gap.
