Frame your HR credentials for retail scale
Dollar General operates thousands of locations with high-volume hourly hiring cycles. Tailor your resume to show experience managing workforce planning, onboarding programs, or labor compliance at comparable scale, not just corporate HR generalist work.
Target distribution center and field HR postings
People Operations Manager openings at Dollar General frequently support regional distribution or field operations, not just corporate headquarters. These postings often have faster hiring timelines and can be more flexible on sponsorship than centralized roles.
Confirm your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
If you're on F-1 OPT, verify whether your degree qualifies for the 24-month STEM extension before applying. Dollar General's People Operations roles typically fall under HR management SOC codes that may or may not qualify, so check the official STEM OPT designated degree list before your cap-gap window closes.
Ask about LCA filing timing before accepting an offer
Dollar General must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Confirm during the offer stage who handles this internally, since large retail employers sometimes process LCAs through a centralized HR compliance team with its own timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified People Operations openings
Sorting through Dollar General's job board manually makes it hard to identify which postings are open to sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter People Operations Manager roles at Dollar General that align with your visa type and timeline.
Prepare for PERM documentation if targeting a Green Card path
If Dollar General pursues EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship for your role, PERM requires documenting that no qualified U.S. worker was available. Gather your foreign degree equivalency evaluations and translated transcripts in advance, since PERM audits can stall the process if documentation gaps surface late.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Dollar General sponsor H-1B visas for People Operations Managers?
Yes, Dollar General sponsors H-1B visas for People Operations Manager roles. As a large retail employer with HR functions spanning corporate offices, regional field teams, and distribution centers, the company has an established process for working with international candidates in this function. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter during your initial screen, since not every individual posting will explicitly state it.
Which visa types are commonly used for People Operations Manager roles at Dollar General?
H-1B is the most common visa type for People Operations Manager roles at Dollar General, covering candidates already in H-1B status or those going through the annual lottery. F-1 OPT and CPT are options for recent graduates in early hiring stages. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR management roles. For longer-term sponsorship, Dollar General also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways.
What qualifications and experience does Dollar General expect for a People Operations Manager?
Dollar General typically expects a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, though some postings prefer a master's degree for senior-level scope. Relevant experience in workforce management, employee relations, or HR compliance in a high-volume retail or distribution environment strengthens your candidacy significantly. Familiarity with E-Verify, FMLA administration, and multi-site HR operations aligns closely with what Dollar General actually manages at scale.
How do I apply for People Operations Manager jobs at Dollar General?
You can browse and apply for People Operations Manager roles at Dollar General through Migrate Mate, which filters postings by visa type so you're only reviewing roles open to sponsorship. Dollar General posts openings across corporate headquarters in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, as well as regional and field-based locations. Apply directly through the employer's application system after identifying a role that matches your visa timeline and experience level.
How do I time my application to align with the H-1B cap and Dollar General's hiring cycle?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so work backwards from there. Dollar General's hiring for People Operations Manager roles tends to ramp up in the first quarter as the company plans for the fiscal year. Targeting applications between January and March gives you enough lead time for the recruiter to complete the LCA with the DOL and submit your USCIS petition before the filing window opens.
