Target operations and horticulture roles first
Brightview's field operations, horticulture, and landscape management teams are where OPT hires most commonly land. Search specifically for branch, district, or regional coordinator roles, these divisions hire on a rolling basis and have the most structured onboarding for early-career workers.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
STEM OPT students get a 24-month extension, but only if their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Ask Brightview's recruiter directly whether the specific hiring entity, not just the parent company, is enrolled. Large companies sometimes have subsidiaries that aren't individually registered.
Align your degree to a STEM-designated job title
Not every facilities services role qualifies for the STEM OPT extension. Cross-reference your degree's CIP code against USCIS's STEM Designated Degree Program List and match it to the SOC code on your offer letter. Environmental science, engineering, and data-focused operations roles typically qualify.
Use Migrate Mate to find Brightview's H-2B filing history
Brightview's H-2B filing history reveals which positions and locations the company consistently fills with visa workers. Search Migrate Mate to identify those roles, then target your application toward those same job families where Brightview has demonstrated active workforce planning and hiring infrastructure.
Prepare a training plan before your STEM OPT start date
Brightview must sign a Form I-983 Training Plan for STEM OPT students. Draft a detailed plan outlining goals, supervision structure, and how the role applies your degree before you start. Arriving with a draft shows the employer you understand the requirement and speeds up their compliance paperwork.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship policy during the offer stage
Brightview sponsors H-2B visas for seasonal workers, but H-1B sponsorship for full-time professional staff is a separate, employer-discretionary decision. Raise the H-1B question directly during the offer stage, not after you've started, so you can factor the answer into your long-term status planning.
Brightview OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Brightview sponsor OPT visas?
Brightview hires F-1 students who already hold an OPT EAD issued by USCIS. Employers don't petition or sponsor OPT itself, your authorization comes from USCIS, and Brightview simply needs to hire you and, for STEM OPT, be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm E-Verify enrollment with the specific Brightview entity making your offer.
Which departments at Brightview typically hire OPT students?
Brightview's strongest OPT hiring tends to be in landscape operations, horticulture management, environmental services, and project coordination. Branch-level and district operations roles are the most common entry points. Students with degrees in environmental science, business operations, or engineering may also find openings in corporate support functions.
How do I find open OPT roles at Brightview?
Search Brightview's careers page filtering for entry-level and coordinator-level positions in operations or horticulture. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer-level data so you can identify which Brightview locations and job families have active hiring activity, helping you target your application more precisely than a general job board search.
How do I start the STEM OPT extension process if Brightview hires me?
You'll need to work with your DSO at least 90 days before your initial OPT EAD expires to file the extension application with USCIS. Brightview's HR team will need to co-sign the Form I-983 Training Plan. Start that conversation early, waiting until the last month creates unnecessary risk of a gap in your work authorization.
Does working at Brightview on OPT lead to H-1B sponsorship?
Brightview's primary visa history is in H-2B visa for seasonal landscape workers, which is a separate category from H-1B visa professional sponsorship. H-1B sponsorship for full-time staff is employer-discretionary and not guaranteed. Ask your recruiter specifically whether the role you're considering is on a track where Brightview has previously sponsored H-1B petitions.
How does Brightview hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Brightview can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Brightview's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
