Target roles with clear degree alignment
Cardinal Health's OPT hiring concentrates in supply chain operations, data analytics, and finance. Map your degree field directly to the role's requirements before applying, OPT authorization depends on academic field match, so a misaligned application wastes your authorization window.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Verify Cardinal Health's enrollment status through E-Verify before signing an offer, not after, so your extension eligibility isn't jeopardized by an administrative oversight at the hiring stage.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Cardinal Health's sponsorship history
Before your interview, pull Cardinal Health's actual visa filing history on Migrate Mate. Knowing which job titles and locations have active sponsorship patterns lets you position your application toward roles where long-term H-1B sponsorship is a realistic outcome, not just a possibility.
Submit your OPT application 90 days early
USCIS allows you to apply for OPT up to 90 days before your program end date. File immediately when your DSO recommends it. Cardinal Health's hiring timelines for full-time roles often run several months, so starting late creates an authorization gap that kills otherwise strong offers.
Research prevailing wages before salary negotiations
Look up the wage level for your target role and location using the OFLC Wage Search before discussing compensation. Cardinal Health's H-1B filings must meet DOL prevailing wage standards, so understanding those benchmarks helps you negotiate a salary that also supports future sponsorship eligibility.
Connect with Cardinal Health recruiters at STEM career fairs
Cardinal Health actively recruits at university career events, particularly at schools with strong supply chain and healthcare analytics programs. Engaging recruiters in person gives you a direct channel to ask about OPT hiring timelines and which business units are currently onboarding international students.
Cardinal Health OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cardinal Health sponsor OPT visas?
Cardinal Health doesn't sponsor OPT itself, OPT is work authorization USCIS grants directly to F-1 students. What Cardinal Health does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. It's an OPT-friendly employer with a history of placing F-1 students into full-time roles across supply chain, analytics, and finance.
Which departments at Cardinal Health typically hire OPT students?
Cardinal Health's strongest OPT hiring tends to be in supply chain and logistics operations, data analytics, finance and accounting, and healthcare IT. Roles that require quantitative or technical degrees align well with OPT's field-of-study requirement. Distribution center operations and corporate strategy roles also see F-1 hiring, depending on location and business need.
How do I find open OPT roles at Cardinal Health?
Search Cardinal Health's careers portal directly and filter by the function most aligned with your degree. Migrate Mate also surfaces Cardinal Health's verified visa sponsorship history by role type, so you can identify which positions have led to H-1B visa sponsorship, a useful signal for which teams actively support international hiring long-term.
How do I know if Cardinal Health will support my STEM OPT extension?
STEM OPT requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify and to sign a formal training plan. Confirm Cardinal Health's E-Verify status before accepting an offer. At a company of Cardinal Health's size, E-Verify enrollment is standard, but it's still your responsibility to verify before your initial OPT period ends.
Does Cardinal Health sponsor H-1B after OPT?
Cardinal Health has a track record of sponsoring H-1B for strong performers who started on OPT. The transition isn't automatic, it depends on your role, team budget, and manager support. Starting the H-1B conversation with your hiring manager before your OPT authorization runs out gives you the most time to prepare the petition.
How does Cardinal Health hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Cardinal Health can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Cardinal Health's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
