Align your degree to manufacturing SOC codes
Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. fills roles tied to industrial and mechanical engineering, materials science, and operations management. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target role and confirm your degree field matches the listed education requirements before applying.
Verify your EAD start date before onboarding
Your OPT EAD must be valid before your first day of work. Manufacturing employers like Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. run E-Verify checks at hire, so a mismatch between your start date and EAD validity will block your onboarding even after an offer is signed.
Target roles that qualify for STEM OPT extension
Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. operates in manufacturing, which includes many STEM-designated CIP codes. Prioritize engineering and technical roles that map to STEM-eligible fields, since a 24-month extension gives you significantly more time to transition to H-1B sponsorship with the same employer.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
STEM OPT requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A.'s HR team to confirm enrollment before you sign an offer. If they're not enrolled, USCIS won't approve your 24-month extension, regardless of your role's STEM designation.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified OPT-friendly employers
Searching manually for manufacturing employers who actively hire OPT students takes time. Migrate Mate surfaces companies with documented OPT and visa sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on employers like Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. that already have a pattern of hiring international talent.
Negotiate your I-983 training plan before day one
For STEM OPT, Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. must sign a training plan on Form I-983 outlining your learning goals and supervision structure. Draft a detailed plan tied to specific manufacturing processes or engineering projects before your start date so HR isn't scrambling after you arrive.
Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. sponsor OPT visas?
Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. does not sponsor OPT itself. OPT is work authorization issued directly by USCIS to eligible F-1 students. What Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. For STEM OPT extensions, the company must be enrolled in E-Verify, which enables the 24-month extension through USCIS.
Which roles at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. typically hire OPT students?
OPT students at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. most commonly land in engineering, manufacturing operations, supply chain, and quality assurance functions. Roles tied to industrial engineering, materials management, and process improvement tend to align with STEM-eligible fields, which is important if you plan to pursue the 24-month STEM OPT extension.
How do I know if my role at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. qualifies for STEM OPT?
Check whether your degree's CIP code is on the official STEM OPT designated degree program list published by the Department of Homeland Security. Your DSO at your university confirms eligibility and issues the updated I-20. Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A.'s E-Verify enrollment is a separate requirement that you should confirm directly with their HR team before signing your offer.
What is the timeline for starting work at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. on OPT?
You can begin working at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. only after USCIS approves your OPT and your EAD is physically in hand. Applications should be filed up to 90 days before your program end date, and USCIS processing can take several months. Plan your start date around your EAD validity window, not your graduation date.
How do I find open OPT roles at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A.?
Migrate Mate lists verified OPT-friendly employers in manufacturing, including companies with a documented history of hiring international students and supporting H-1B visa transitions. You can filter for roles at Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. and similar employers to find positions where your OPT EAD and STEM extension timeline are already understood by the hiring team.
How does Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A. can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Conitex-Sonoco U.S.A.'s individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
