Align your degree field to clinical roles
Cooper's hiring managers in healthcare settings expect your OPT EAD field of study to directly match the role. Check that your I-20 lists a CIP code consistent with health sciences, nursing informatics, or biomedical administration before applying to clinical or operations positions.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
For STEM OPT, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify before your 24-month extension is approved. Ask Cooper's HR team directly during the offer stage, not after signing, so you don't lose your extension window due to an avoidable enrollment gap.
Target departments with recurring OPT hiring patterns
Cooper's health informatics, revenue cycle, and clinical research teams regularly bring on OPT students. These departments handle data-intensive workflows that align well with STEM-designated degrees, making them stronger targets than general administrative units when timing your job search.
Search Cooper's verified OPT roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Cooper University Health Care roles by OPT compatibility and STEM designation. It surfaces employer-specific hiring history so you can target positions where Cooper has already demonstrated a pattern of hiring international students on work authorization.
Submit your OPT application 90 days early
USCIS recommends filing your OPT application up to 90 days before your program end date. Cooper's onboarding timelines in healthcare are firm, so a delayed EAD means a delayed start date. File as early as USCIS allows to protect your offer.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
Before negotiating your offer, look up Cooper's prevailing wage tier for your role using the OFLC Wage Search. This protects you during OPT and positions you correctly if Cooper later sponsors your H-1B, where wage compliance becomes a formal DOL requirement.
Cooper University Health Care OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cooper University Health Care sponsor OPT visas?
Cooper University Health Care doesn't sponsor OPT directly, OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to you as an F-1 student. What Cooper does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. If your degree field matches the role and your EAD is active, you're eligible to work at Cooper under OPT without any employer petition.
Which departments at Cooper University Health Care typically hire OPT students?
Cooper's strongest OPT hiring activity tends to cluster in health informatics, clinical research, revenue cycle management, and patient services operations. These roles often align with STEM-designated programs in biomedical engineering, health information management, and data analytics, which also makes them viable pathways for the 24-month STEM OPT extension.
How do I confirm Cooper University Health Care is enrolled in E-Verify for STEM OPT?
Ask Cooper's HR or talent acquisition team directly during the offer stage. You can also verify employer enrollment through the E-Verify employer search tool maintained by DHS. Confirmation before you sign your offer letter is essential, since your STEM OPT extension requires the employer to be enrolled before USCIS approves the extension.
What is the typical timeline for starting work at Cooper University Health Care on OPT?
Your OPT EAD must be valid before your first day at Cooper. USCIS processing currently takes several months, so file up to 90 days before your program end date. Cooper's healthcare onboarding process is structured and time-specific, so coordinate your EAD approval date against the posted start date before confirming your acceptance.
How do I find OPT-compatible roles at Cooper University Health Care?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Cooper University Health Care job listings by work authorization type, including OPT and STEM OPT eligibility. This helps you avoid applying to roles that require immediate H-1B sponsorship when you're still on OPT. Targeting roles with a clear OPT-to-H-1B pathway at Cooper improves your long-term chances of staying on status.
How does Cooper University Health Care hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Cooper University Health Care can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Cooper University Health Care's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
