SUMMARY
The Project Buyer is responsible for the end-to-end procurement process of engineered equipment, raw materials, and components (e.g., castings, motors, seals, impellers) necessary for specific pump manufacturing projects. This role ensures that materials are procured to meet project timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints. The Project Buyer acts as the vital link between Engineering, Project Management, and Suppliers to ensure successful product development and production, from early sourcing to project completion.

- Project Alignment: Coordinate purchasing activities with project timelines (BOM cost management) to ensure all materials arrive on time for assembly.
- Supplier Management: Build strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain. Monitor supplier performance (quality, lead time, and cost) and conduct supplier audits/visits.
- Technical Liaison: Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to understand technical specifications, manage BOM (Bill of Materials) changes, and resolve supplier capacity issues.
- Order Management: Create and manage purchase orders (POs) in ERP systems (e.g., Prophet 21, Infor M3) and expedite deliveries to avoid production delays.
- Quality Control: Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards, cooperating with Quality Assurance to address and resolve non-conformances.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential risks in the supply chain (e.g., foundry capacity shortages) and develop contingency plans.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Align your degree to DXP's core functions
DXP's hiring centers on supply chain, mechanical engineering, and industrial distribution. Before applying, map your degree field to one of these areas using O*NET to confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation, which strengthens your OPT eligibility and future H-1B case.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask DXP's recruiting team directly during the offer stage, since E-Verify enrollment status can vary by subsidiary or branch location, and you can't apply for the extension without it.
Apply before your graduation date approaches
USCIS recommends filing your OPT EAD application up to 90 days before your program end date. Starting your DXP job search at least four months before graduation gives you time to clear interviews, receive an offer, and have your authorization in hand by day one.
Target DXP roles with technical reporting lines
Roles in DXP's pumping solutions, rotating equipment, or industrial services divisions tend to require specific technical degrees, which produces cleaner specialty occupation documentation. Avoid purely administrative or general management titles, where the degree-to-role connection is harder to establish.
Use Migrate Mate to research DXP's H-1B history
Search DXP Enterprises on Migrate Mate to review its H-1B Labor Condition Application filing history by job title and location. This tells you which roles the company has sponsored before, so you can prioritize positions with a documented H-1B track record from OPT.
Get your formal offer letter before DSO authorization
Your Designated School Official needs a written job offer from DXP that states your start date, salary, and job title before authorizing OPT in SEVIS. Verbal offers don't satisfy this requirement, so push for a signed letter before your DSO deadline.
DXP Enterprises, Inc. OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does DXP Enterprises, Inc. sponsor OPT visas?
DXP Enterprises doesn't sponsor OPT directly because OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students, not a visa employers petition for. What DXP does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. For STEM OPT extensions, DXP's E-Verify enrollment status matters, so confirm this during the offer process.
Which departments at DXP Enterprises typically hire OPT students?
DXP's strongest OPT hiring tends to occur in technical roles tied to its core business lines: pumping solutions, rotating equipment, industrial services, and supply chain operations. Engineering, operations analysis, and procurement roles are common entry points for F-1 students, particularly those with degrees in mechanical, industrial, or chemical engineering.
How do I start the OPT authorization process when I have a DXP offer?
Once DXP provides a written offer letter with your job title, start date, and salary, take it to your DSO to initiate the OPT authorization in SEVIS. Your DSO issues a new I-20 with OPT recommended, and you then file Form I-765 with USCIS. File as early as allowed, since USCIS processing takes several weeks.
How do I know if DXP Enterprises supports the OPT-to-H-1B transition?
Use Migrate Mate to review DXP Enterprises' Labor Condition Application filing history, which shows the job titles and locations where the company has previously sponsored H-1B visas. A pattern of H-1B filings in roles matching your background is a strong indicator that the company is willing to sponsor you after OPT.
What timeline should I expect when pursuing OPT employment at DXP Enterprises?
Plan for four to six months from job search to your first day. USCIS recommends filing your OPT EAD application 90 days before your program end date, and processing currently runs several weeks. Factor in DXP's interview rounds and the time your DSO needs to update your I-20 before you can file.
How does DXP Enterprises, Inc. hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. DXP Enterprises, Inc. can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check DXP Enterprises, Inc.'s individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
