Align your resume to hardware-specific roles
EPS prioritizes candidates with hands-on experience in PCB design, embedded firmware, or signal integrity. Tailor your resume to highlight lab work, capstone projects, or internships that map directly to Electronics & Hardware deliverables, not general engineering coursework.
Verify your OPT EAD before applying
EPS can only onboard you once your EAD is in hand and the start date is confirmed. Apply for OPT through your DSO at least 90 days before graduation so your authorization is active when EPS extends an offer.
Confirm EPS is enrolled in E-Verify early
STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify at the time you file Form I-983. Ask EPS's HR team to confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer if you're counting on the 24-month extension.
Target engineering and product development teams
OPT hires at electronics firms like EPS cluster in hardware engineering, systems integration, and R&D. Focus your outreach on these departments rather than operations or sales, where OPT hiring is far less common and degree-field alignment is harder to establish.
Use Migrate Mate to research EPS's sponsorship history
Before your interview, check Migrate Mate to review EPS's employer-level visa filing data. Knowing which roles and locations EPS has sponsored historically lets you frame your OPT-to-H-1B conversation with specifics rather than asking from scratch.
Negotiate your start date around OPT timing
OPT start dates can't be backdated and must fall within 60 days of your program end date. If EPS wants you to start sooner, work with your DSO to request the earliest authorized date and communicate that window clearly during the offer stage.
EPS OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does EPS sponsor OPT visas?
EPS doesn't sponsor OPT itself, OPT authorization comes from USCIS and is granted directly to you as an F-1 student. What EPS does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. The company has a history of bringing on F-1 graduates in electronics and hardware roles, making it a viable target for OPT job seekers.
Which roles at EPS typically hire OPT students?
EPS most commonly hires OPT students for hardware engineering, embedded systems, PCB design, and R&D positions. These roles align closely with the degree requirements USCIS uses to validate OPT authorization. Roles in general operations or administrative functions are less likely to meet the degree-field match requirement.
How do I approach the OPT-to-H-1B transition at EPS?
Raise the H-1B sponsorship question during the offer stage, not after you start. EPS has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 visas, which signals willingness to invest in long-term work authorization. Ask HR directly whether the role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship and what the internal timeline looks like before H-1B registration opens each March.
How do I know if EPS is enrolled in E-Verify for my STEM OPT extension?
STEM OPT requires your employer to be actively enrolled in E-Verify when you submit Form I-983 to your DSO. Ask EPS's HR team for their E-Verify company ID before accepting the offer. You can also search the E-Verify employer database to confirm enrollment independently. Don't wait until 90 days before your OPT expires to check.
How do I find OPT job openings at EPS?
Search Migrate Mate to find EPS OPT-eligible roles filtered by the company's actual visa filing history. When applying directly through EPS's careers page, filter for engineering and hardware positions and note the degree field requirement in each posting. Make your OPT status and EAD end date clear in your application to avoid screening delays.
How does EPS hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. EPS can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check EPS's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
