Align your degree to device engineering roles
Globus Medical's core hiring for OPT students sits in mechanical, biomedical, and electrical engineering. Map your coursework directly to implant design, biomechanics, or manufacturing process work before applying, since generic engineering resumes rarely clear their technical screens.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your STEM extension
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Globus Medical is a federal contractor and maintains active E-Verify enrollment, but confirm this with your recruiter before your standard OPT period ends to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Target roles that map to a sponsorable occupation
Not every OPT role at Globus Medical leads to H-1B sponsorship. Use O*NET to identify whether your target job title falls under a specialty occupation, then cross-check against Globus Medical's historical LCA filings to see which job codes they've sponsored at the H-1B stage.
Search Globus Medical's verified LCA filings on Migrate Mate
Pull Globus Medical's DOL Labor Condition Application history on Migrate Mate to see which job titles, locations, and wage levels they've filed for. This tells you which roles have a realistic H-1B pathway and what prevailing wage range to expect before you negotiate your offer.
Submit your I-983 training plan before your start date
For STEM OPT, your employer must sign Form I-983 outlining your training goals and how the role relates to your degree. Get this drafted and signed by Globus Medical's HR team before your STEM OPT extension start date, since USCIS requires it to be in place from day one.
Position yourself for the H-1B registration window early
Globus Medical has sponsored H-1B visas across engineering and commercial functions. If your OPT ends near March, discuss H-1B registration intent with your manager by January so there's time to build a specialty occupation case and prepare the supporting documentation before the USCIS registration window opens.
Globus Medical OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Globus Medical sponsor OPT visas?
Globus Medical hires F-1 students who already hold an OPT EAD granted by USCIS. The company does not file a petition for OPT itself, since OPT is work authorization issued directly to you. Globus Medical's role is as the employer of record, and for STEM OPT it maintains E-Verify enrollment, which is required for your 24-month extension.
Which departments at Globus Medical hire OPT students most often?
Globus Medical's strongest OPT hiring sits in research and development, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, and clinical affairs. Roles tied to implant design, biomechanics testing, and regulatory support tend to align well with the biomedical and mechanical engineering degrees most OPT students hold in the medical devices space.
How do I know if my OPT role at Globus Medical qualifies for a STEM extension?
Your degree must appear on the STEM Designated Degree Program List published by USCIS, and your role must directly relate to that degree. Check your job description against O*NET to confirm the occupation code aligns with your field of study. Your DSO at your university processes the STEM OPT extension, not Globus Medical.
How do I find out which Globus Medical roles have led to H-1B sponsorship?
Migrate Mate shows Globus Medical's verified DOL Labor Condition Application filings by job title, location, and wage level. Reviewing this data before you apply helps you identify which roles have a documented H-1B pathway and what compensation range to expect, so you can target the positions most likely to lead to long-term sponsorship.
How do I approach Globus Medical about H-1B sponsorship after my OPT period?
Raise the H-1B conversation with your manager and HR contact no later than January if your OPT ends in the fall. Globus Medical's H-1B filings have spanned engineering and commercial roles, so demonstrating that your position meets the specialty occupation standard, with a clear degree-to-role connection, strengthens the internal case for sponsorship before the USCIS registration window in March.
How does Globus Medical hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Globus Medical can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Globus Medical's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
