Target Grifols roles matching your degree
Grifols hires OPT students into science-heavy roles requiring specific degree alignment. Use O*NET to confirm your occupation's typical education requirements match your field, then filter your search to bioprocess, quality assurance, or clinical research job postings that mirror your coursework.
Verify Grifols is enrolled in E-Verify
To extend your OPT by 24 months under the STEM extension, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify. Grifols's E-Verify participation is what makes that extension possible, so confirm enrollment status before accepting an offer if you're planning beyond the initial 12-month period.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wage data
Before negotiating an offer, look up the prevailing wage for your role and location using the OFLC Wage Search. Grifols operates across multiple U.S. facilities, so wages vary by site. Knowing the DOL wage level for your job title strengthens your negotiation and prepares you for a future H-1B filing.
Ask directly about H-1B sponsorship timelines
During the offer stage, ask Grifols's HR or hiring manager when they typically initiate H-1B sponsorship for OPT employees. Companies with active H-1B filing histories usually begin the process several months before an employee's OPT expires, so clarifying expectations early prevents gaps in your work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to find Grifols job listings
Search for Grifols openings on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at employers with verified H-1B sponsorship history. This lets you identify which Grifols positions have a documented path from OPT employment to long-term visa sponsorship, so you're applying where the transition has actually happened before.
Prepare your OPT EAD before your start date
USCIS recommends applying for your OPT EAD up to 90 days before your program end date. Grifols cannot onboard you without a valid EAD in hand, so delays in your USCIS application directly push back your start date. Submit your application through your DSO as early as your school's timeline allows.
Grifols OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Grifols sponsor OPT visas?
Grifols doesn't sponsor OPT itself. OPT is work authorization granted by USCIS directly to eligible F-1 students. What Grifols does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. For the 24-month STEM extension, Grifols must be enrolled in E-Verify, which allows eligible students to extend their authorization beyond the initial 12 months.
Which departments at Grifols typically hire OPT students?
Grifols most commonly hires OPT students into science and research functions, including bioprocess development, analytical chemistry, quality control, regulatory affairs, and clinical operations. Roles in these areas often align with STEM-designated degree programs, making candidates eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension and a stronger path toward eventual H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for a job at Grifols as an OPT student?
Apply through Grifols's careers page or use Migrate Mate to find open positions with verified H-1B sponsorship history. In your application, confirm your OPT EAD is current or pending, and be prepared to share your EAD expiration date. Grifols hiring managers in research roles are generally familiar with OPT timelines, so transparency upfront avoids delays later.
What is the typical timeline from OPT employment at Grifols to H-1B sponsorship?
Most employees on OPT pursue H-1B sponsorship during their first or second year of employment. Because H-1B cap registration opens in March each year, Grifols would typically need to initiate the process with you several months in advance. STEM OPT students have more runway, with up to 36 months of total authorization to pursue the H-1B lottery.
Does Grifols support the STEM OPT extension for science roles?
Yes, provided Grifols remains enrolled in E-Verify and your degree is classified under an approved STEM field. Your DSO submits the I-983 training plan to USCIS, not Grifols directly. Grifols's role is to co-sign the training plan and confirm the role meets STEM OPT's practical training requirements. Confirm your job title falls under an approved STEM CIP code through USCIS before filing.
How does Grifols hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Grifols can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Grifols's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
