Align your degree to apparel roles
Hyosung's OPT-eligible roles typically require degrees in fashion design, textile science, merchandising, or supply chain management. Before applying, map your transcript to the specific role description so your major clearly satisfies the specialty occupation requirement USCIS uses when evaluating future H-1B eligibility.
Verify Hyosung's E-Verify enrollment early
To use your 24-month STEM OPT extension, Hyosung must be enrolled in E-Verify before your extension begins. Confirm their enrollment status directly with HR during the offer stage, not after you've accepted, because switching employers mid-STEM period resets your timeline.
Target roles with H-1B conversion history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Hyosung's past H-1B filings by job title and department. Focus your application on roles the company has sponsored before, product development, sourcing, and technical design tend to show stronger visa conversion patterns in fashion manufacturing companies.
Prepare a portfolio that shows technical depth
Fashion and apparel employers prioritize technical portfolios over resumes alone. Include fabric sourcing decisions, CAD files, construction specs, or production cost analyses. Roles with documented technical output are far easier for Hyosung's HR team to justify as specialty occupations when filing H-1B paperwork later.
Negotiate your OPT start date strategically
You can request an OPT start date up to 90 days after your program end date. If Hyosung's hiring cycle runs on a specific quarter, align your start date to their onboarding schedule rather than defaulting to the earliest possible date, which can leave you in a gap period before the role begins.
Benchmark your salary against DOL wage levels
Look up the prevailing wage for your target role using the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation. Hyosung must pay at or above the DOL's Level I or Level II wage for your occupation and location, and starting above that threshold strengthens your profile for H-1B sponsorship when your OPT ends.
Hyosung OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hyosung sponsor OPT visas?
Hyosung doesn't sponsor OPT directly, OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students, not something employers file for. What Hyosung does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. If you're pursuing the 24-month STEM OPT extension, confirm that Hyosung is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting an offer, since that enrollment is required for the extension to be valid.
Which departments at Hyosung typically hire OPT students?
Hyosung's OPT hires tend to concentrate in product development, textile sourcing, technical design, and supply chain roles. These functions align with Fashion & Apparel degree programs and are more likely to support H-1B sponsorship later because they meet the specialty occupation definition USCIS applies during H-1B adjudication.
How do I find out if Hyosung has open OPT roles right now?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified H-1B filing history, which is the clearest signal that a company is willing to sponsor international talent long-term. Search Hyosung on Migrate Mate to see current openings and the company's visa sponsorship track record before you apply.
How do I time my OPT application around Hyosung's hiring cycle?
USCIS recommends filing your OPT application 90 days before your program end date, and your EAD can have a start date up to 60 days after graduation. Hyosung's hiring cycles in fashion often follow seasonal product calendars, so targeting a start date that aligns with their spring or fall onboarding windows improves your chances of landing an offer before your EAD activates.
Does Hyosung sponsor H-1B visas for OPT employees?
Hyosung has H-1B filing history, meaning the company has sponsored employees for H-1B status in the past. OPT employees who perform well have a realistic path to H-1B sponsorship, but it's not automatic. Clarify the company's H-1B sponsorship policy during the offer stage, and ask specifically whether your role and department have a history of converting OPT employees to H-1B.
How does Hyosung hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Hyosung can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Hyosung's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
