Target JPMorganChase's structured analyst programs
JPMorganChase's full-time analyst programs in investment banking, technology, and corporate finance recruit heavily from campus pipelines. Apply directly through their careers portal during fall recruiting season, when OPT authorization timelines align most cleanly with standard start dates.
Confirm your role qualifies for STEM OPT
Not every JPMorganChase role qualifies for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Cross-reference your job title against STEM-designated CIP codes before accepting an offer. Roles in data science, software engineering, and quantitative finance typically qualify; general management or sales roles often don't.
Verify JPMorganChase's E-Verify enrollment before signing
The STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. JPMorganChase participates in E-Verify, but confirm this with HR before your offer letter is finalized. Your DSO needs written employer confirmation to process the extension through SEVIS.
Prepare your OPT EAD timeline around JPMorganChase's start dates
USCIS recommends filing your OPT application 90 days before your program end date. JPMorganChase's analyst cohorts typically start in late July or early August, so calculate your EAD receipt window carefully to avoid gaps between graduation and your first day.
Use Migrate Mate to identify JPMorganChase H-1B filing history
After OPT, transitioning to H-1B depends on JPMorganChase's willingness to sponsor. Search Migrate Mate to review their H-1B and E-3 visa Labor Condition Application history by role and location, so you enter salary negotiations knowing which positions consistently receive sponsorship.
Align your salary expectations with prevailing wage data
Before your JPMorganChase offer negotiation, look up the prevailing wage for your role and metro area using the OFLC Wage Search. JPMorganChase's LCA filings for H-1B must meet or exceed these thresholds, which gives you a transparent floor for evaluating whether your OPT salary is competitive.
JPMorganChase OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor OPT visas?
JPMorganChase doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students, not something employers file for. What JPMorganChase does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD and, critically, is enrolled in E-Verify, which is required if you plan to apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension after starting.
Which departments at JPMorganChase typically hire OPT students?
Technology, quantitative research, data analytics, investment banking, and corporate finance teams at JPMorganChase hire OPT students most consistently. Roles requiring programming, financial modeling, or statistical analysis align well with STEM-designated fields, which matters if you want to maximize your time on OPT before transitioning to H-1B visa sponsorship.
How do I apply for OPT jobs at JPMorganChase?
Apply through JPMorganChase's careers portal during their structured recruiting cycles, typically in fall for the following summer or full-year start dates. Flag your OPT authorization clearly in your application. Your DSO handles the actual OPT application through SEVIS, not JPMorganChase. Use Migrate Mate to filter for JPMorganChase roles that match your OPT-eligible field and see their H-1B sponsorship track record.
How long does the OPT-to-H-1B process take at JPMorganChase?
If JPMorganChase agrees to sponsor your H-1B, they'll file in April for an October 1 start date under the annual lottery. Standard USCIS processing takes several months after selection, though premium processing is available for faster adjudication. Plan at least 12 months ahead of your OPT expiration to avoid authorization gaps during the transition.
Does JPMorganChase support the STEM OPT extension?
Yes. JPMorganChase's E-Verify enrollment means you can apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension if your role falls under a STEM-designated CIP code. You'll need a formal training plan from your JPMorganChase supervisor and DSO approval. Confirm your specific role qualifies before relying on the extension as part of your long-term U.S. work timeline.
How does JPMorganChase hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. JPMorganChase can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check JPMorganChase's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
