Target NBCUniversal's technology and data teams
NBCUniversal's engineering, data science, and platform technology divisions hire OPT students most consistently. Roles tied to streaming infrastructure, audience analytics, and ad tech are more likely to lead to H-1B sponsorship than general production or administrative positions.
Verify your EAD is current before applying
NBCUniversal's HR teams will check your EAD start and end dates during onboarding. Make sure your OPT authorization period covers the full start date of any role you're pursuing, and flag your STEM extension eligibility early if your degree qualifies.
Confirm NBCUniversal's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask your recruiter or HR contact to confirm NBCUniversal's E-Verify status before you accept an offer, so your extension filing with USCIS isn't delayed.
Align your salary expectations with prevailing wage standards
When negotiating your offer at NBCUniversal, cross-reference your role's occupational code using the OFLC Wage Search and O*NET. Accepting below the prevailing wage for your role can complicate a future H-1B petition tied to that same position.
Search Migrate Mate for verified NBCUniversal openings
Filter for NBCUniversal roles on Migrate Mate to see positions where the company has an active visa sponsorship history. This helps you focus your applications on teams with a demonstrated pattern of hiring and sponsoring international talent.
Start the H-1B conversation before your OPT expires
NBCUniversal's talent and immigration teams plan sponsorship decisions well in advance of the April H-1B registration window. Raise your intent to convert to H-1B during your performance review cycle, not in the weeks before the USCIS deadline.
NBCUniversal OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does NBCUniversal sponsor OPT visas?
NBCUniversal doesn't sponsor OPT itself. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants directly to F-1 students. What NBCUniversal does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. The company has a track record of bringing on OPT students across technology, media, and corporate roles, and supporting those hires through the H-1B transition process.
Which departments at NBCUniversal typically hire OPT students?
Technology, data analytics, digital media, finance, and product teams at NBCUniversal have the strongest pattern of hiring OPT students. Roles in streaming platform development, audience data, and advertising technology tend to align well with STEM-eligible degrees, which improves the likelihood of a 24-month STEM OPT extension and eventual H-1B sponsorship.
How do I confirm NBCUniversal supports STEM OPT extensions?
Ask your NBCUniversal recruiter or HR contact to confirm the company is enrolled in E-Verify, which is a federal requirement for employers supporting STEM OPT extensions. Your DSO will also need the company's E-Verify information to process your STEM OPT extension application with USCIS.
How do I find OPT roles at NBCUniversal that lead to H-1B sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter for NBCUniversal jobs with verified visa sponsorship history, so you can prioritize roles on teams that have sponsored international employees before. Targeting departments with H-1B filing history gives you a clearer picture of where long-term sponsorship is realistic at the company.
What's the typical timeline for moving from OPT to H-1B at NBCUniversal?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each April for the fiscal year starting October 1. If you're on OPT and want NBCUniversal to sponsor your H-1B, your employer needs to register you in that April window. Starting the conversation with your manager and HR team at least six months in advance gives the company time to plan and engage immigration counsel.
How does NBCUniversal hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. NBCUniversal can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check NBCUniversal's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
