Target PepsiCo's Early Career Programs First
PepsiCo's rotational and early-career programs in supply chain, finance, and data analytics are the most consistent entry points for OPT hires. Apply to these structured tracks rather than open requisitions, as they have established pipelines for international graduates transitioning from campus recruiting.
Confirm E-Verify Enrollment Before Accepting
Before signing an offer, confirm that your specific PepsiCo business unit is enrolled in E-Verify. STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be actively enrolled at the time you file your extension with USCIS, not just at the time of hire.
Align Your Degree to a Qualifying STEM Role
PepsiCo hires OPT students in data science, engineering, and operations roles that appear on the STEM OPT-eligible degree program list. Cross-reference your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code with your role's requirements before applying to confirm you qualify for the 24-month extension.
Research PepsiCo's H-1B Filing History on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to review PepsiCo's H-1B and LCA filing history by role and location. This tells you which job titles and business units have historically moved OPT employees into H-1B sponsorship, helping you target the right team from the start.
Benchmark Your Salary Against DOL Wage Levels
When negotiating your offer, use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your role and location. PepsiCo's HR teams are familiar with DOL wage requirements for H-1B transitions, and entering at or above wage level II strengthens your future petition.
Time Your Application Around PepsiCo's Recruiting Cycle
PepsiCo recruits heavily in fall for full-time roles starting the following summer, which aligns with May and August graduation OPT timelines. Applying early in the fall cycle gives you the best chance of an offer before your OPT start date, avoiding the 90-day unemployment clock risk.
PepsiCo OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does PepsiCo sponsor OPT visas?
PepsiCo doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization that USCIS grants to F-1 students, not something employers file for. What PepsiCo does is hire students who already have an OPT EAD and, where eligible, enroll in E-Verify to support STEM OPT 24-month extensions. The distinction matters when you're evaluating whether a specific role qualifies.
Which departments at PepsiCo are most likely to hire OPT students?
Supply chain, data analytics, finance, and engineering functions are PepsiCo's most common entry points for OPT students. These teams run structured early-career programs with defined onboarding timelines, which tend to work well with OPT's fixed authorization window. Marketing and commercial roles also hire international graduates but with less consistency across locations.
How do I confirm PepsiCo will support my STEM OPT extension?
Ask your recruiter or HR contact to confirm that your specific PepsiCo entity is actively enrolled in E-Verify before your extension filing date. USCIS requires the employer to be enrolled at the time of the extension, not just willing to enroll. Get this confirmation in writing, as enrollment status can vary across subsidiaries and business units.
What is the typical timeline from OPT hire to H-1B sponsorship at PepsiCo?
Most OPT-to-H-1B transitions at large employers like PepsiCo follow the annual H-1B cap cycle, with registration in March and an October 1 start date. If you're hired on OPT and your role qualifies, PepsiCo would typically begin the H-1B process in your first or second year of employment. Migrate Mate can show you which roles at PepsiCo have active H-1B filing history.
How do I find OPT-eligible roles at PepsiCo before applying?
Filter PepsiCo's careers page for entry-level and early-career roles in STEM-adjacent functions, then verify that the required degree field appears on USCIS's list of STEM-designated degree programs. You can also use O*NET to confirm a role's occupation classification and degree requirements before investing time in the application, which helps you avoid roles that won't support a STEM OPT extension.
How does PepsiCo hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. PepsiCo can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check PepsiCo's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
