Align your degree to Regeneron's core science functions
Regeneron's OPT hiring centers on roles where your degree field directly maps to the job: molecular biology for lab research, bioinformatics for computational roles, or chemical engineering for process science. A clear degree-to-role match reduces friction in the hiring review and strengthens your OPT eligibility case.
Verify your STEM OPT eligibility before applying
If your degree qualifies under the DHS STEM designated degree list, you're eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension after your initial 12 months. Regeneron is enrolled in E-Verify, which is the federal requirement your employer must meet for USCIS to approve that extension.
Target Regeneron's research and development divisions directly
Regeneron's strongest OPT hiring comes through its research science, preclinical development, and bioinformatics teams rather than corporate or commercial functions. Filter your job search by those divisions and look for postings that specify hands-on laboratory or computational responsibilities tied to your degree discipline.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Regeneron's H-1B filing patterns
Your OPT role is the first step toward a sponsored work visa. Search Regeneron on Migrate Mate to review its H-1B Labor Condition Application history by job title, which shows which roles have historically led to full sponsorship and helps you prioritize positions with a real path forward.
Start your OPT application timing around Regeneron's offer process
USCIS processing for your initial OPT EAD can take up to five months, so apply to your DSO well before your program end date. If Regeneron extends you an offer, confirm your OPT start date aligns with the role's onboarding window before signing anything.
Prepare for Regeneron's H-1B transition timeline during OPT
Regeneron files H-1B petitions in the annual April lottery for October start dates. If your OPT expires mid-year, confirm with your hiring manager whether premium processing is on the table or whether cap-gap protection under USCIS rules will bridge your authorization through the transition period.
Regeneron OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Regeneron sponsor OPT visas?
Regeneron doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students, not something an employer files for. What Regeneron does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD, and the company is enrolled in E-Verify, which makes it eligible to support the 24-month STEM OPT extension for qualifying degree holders.
Which departments at Regeneron typically hire OPT students?
Regeneron's research and development functions are the most active for OPT hiring, including research science, preclinical biology, bioinformatics, and process development. Roles in these areas tend to require degrees in life sciences, computational biology, or chemical engineering, which align well with the specialty occupation standard Regeneron applies when evaluating candidates for future H-1B sponsorship.
How do I confirm Regeneron will support my STEM OPT extension?
Ask your recruiter or HR contact directly whether Regeneron is currently enrolled in E-Verify. E-Verify enrollment is the federal requirement USCIS uses to determine whether your employer can support the STEM OPT extension. You can also confirm E-Verify status through the E-Verify employer search tool maintained by the Department of Homeland Security.
How do I find Regeneron OPT jobs with a clear path to H-1B sponsorship?
Search Regeneron on Migrate Mate to review its Labor Condition Application filing history by job title and department. This shows which roles Regeneron has historically sponsored for H-1B, so you can target positions where OPT is a real stepping stone rather than a temporary arrangement with no long-term sponsorship commitment.
What is the typical timeline from OPT hire to H-1B sponsorship at Regeneron?
Most OPT employees who transition to H-1B at science and research companies like Regeneron go through one H-1B lottery cycle, meaning the earliest possible H-1B start date is October 1 of the year following your hire. You'll want to have at least several months of OPT remaining by the April registration window so cap-gap protection can cover any gap if you're selected.
How does Regeneron hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Regeneron can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Regeneron's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
