Align your degree to construction roles
Ryan Companies hires OPT students for roles where your degree field directly matches the position. Civil engineering, architecture, construction management, and real estate finance degrees carry the strongest alignment. Check O*NET profiles for your target role before applying to confirm the degree-to-job connection.
Verify your EAD before your start date
Ryan Companies will verify your work authorization through E-Verify on day one. Make sure your EAD card has arrived and shows the correct employer type before you accept an offer. A mismatch between your EAD category and the role type can delay your onboarding significantly.
Target project-based teams in early outreach
Ryan Companies operates across design-build, development, and construction management divisions. OPT students land most consistently in project engineering and preconstruction roles. Direct outreach to hiring managers on those teams, rather than only applying through the careers portal, improves your visibility with the decision-makers who control headcount.
Position yourself for the H-1B transition early
Ryan Companies has sponsored H-1B visas for construction and real estate professionals. If you're on a 12-month OPT timeline, raise H-1B sponsorship intent during the offer stage, not after you've started. Employers in capital-intensive industries plan workforce costs annually, so early alignment prevents surprises at renewal.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Ryan's sponsorship history
Before your interview, use Migrate Mate to review Ryan Companies' verified visa filing history by role and location. Knowing which job titles and offices have the most active sponsorship patterns lets you tailor your application and ask sharper questions about the H-1B transition timeline during negotiations.
Request STEM OPT eligibility confirmation from your DSO
If your degree qualifies for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, confirm Ryan Companies is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting an offer. Your DSO must recommend the extension in SEVIS, and that process takes time. Start the paperwork at least 90 days before your initial OPT end date to avoid any gap in authorization.
Ryan Companies US, Inc. OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ryan Companies U.S., Inc. sponsor OPT visas?
Ryan Companies doesn't sponsor OPT directly since OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students, not a visa employers petition for. What Ryan Companies does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. The company has a track record of employing OPT students in construction, engineering, and real estate roles and supporting the transition to H-1B sponsorship for high-performing employees.
Which departments at Ryan Companies typically hire OPT students?
OPT students at Ryan Companies most commonly land in project engineering, preconstruction, architecture, and real estate development teams. Roles with a clear degree-to-job match, such as civil engineering or construction management positions, tend to move through hiring faster. Finance and accounting roles within the development division also recruit OPT candidates with relevant graduate degrees.
How do I confirm Ryan Companies is enrolled in E-Verify for STEM OPT?
Ask your recruiter or HR contact directly whether Ryan Companies is enrolled in E-Verify before you accept an offer. E-Verify enrollment is required for employers to support the 24-month STEM OPT extension. You can also verify enrollment status through the E-Verify employer search tool maintained by the Department of Homeland Security.
How do I research Ryan Companies' OPT and visa hiring history before applying?
Migrate Mate aggregates DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer, role, and location, so you can see which job titles at Ryan Companies have the strongest sponsorship track record. Reviewing this data before your interview helps you identify the right teams to target and prepares you to have a specific, informed conversation about long-term visa support.
How do I approach the H-1B sponsorship conversation with Ryan Companies during the offer stage?
Raise H-1B sponsorship during offer negotiations, not after you've started. Ask specifically whether the role has been sponsored for H-1B previously and whether the team plans to file in the next lottery cycle. Ryan Companies operates in a capital-intensive industry where workforce planning happens annually, so giving HR early notice of your timeline improves your chances of being included in the next petition cycle.
How does Ryan Companies US, Inc. hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Ryan Companies US, Inc. can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Ryan Companies US, Inc.'s individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
