Align your degree to Sanmina's roles
Sanmina's engineering and operations teams prioritize candidates whose degrees map directly to open positions. Before applying, cross-check your field of study against the role's requirements using O*NET to confirm your OPT authorization covers the job's occupation code.
Verify Sanmina's E-Verify enrollment early
STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify before your 24-month extension begins. Confirm Sanmina's enrollment status with your recruiter or HR contact before accepting an offer, so your DSO can submit Form I-983 without delays.
Target hardware and manufacturing engineering teams
Sanmina's strongest OPT hiring tends to be in PCB design, test engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance. Framing your resume around electronics manufacturing workflows and industry certifications like IPC standards makes your application more relevant to these teams.
Time your application around your OPT start date
USCIS recommends applying for OPT up to 90 days before your program end date. Coordinate your Sanmina offer timeline with your DSO so your EAD card arrives before your intended start date, since Sanmina cannot hire you without it in hand.
Search Migrate Mate for verified Sanmina OPT roles
Filter by Sanmina on Migrate Mate to find roles where OPT hiring is active and confirmed. The platform surfaces employer-level visa filing history so you spend time on applications with real OPT pathways rather than listings with unclear sponsorship intent.
Ask about H-1B transition during your offer stage
Sanmina sponsors H-1B visas for employees, so raise the transition question directly with your recruiter before signing. Understanding whether your specific role and team have a history of H-1B filings helps you assess long-term visa stability before you commit.
Sanmina OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sanmina sponsor OPT visas?
Sanmina hires F-1 students who already hold OPT work authorization. OPT itself is granted by USCIS directly to the student, not filed by the employer. Sanmina's role is to employ OPT holders and, for STEM OPT extensions, to be enrolled in E-Verify and complete Form I-983 with you.
Which roles at Sanmina are most accessible for OPT students?
OPT students at Sanmina most commonly land in hardware engineering, PCB design, test engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain operations. These teams align well with electronics and manufacturing-focused STEM degrees, which also makes them strong candidates for the 24-month STEM OPT extension.
How do I confirm Sanmina will support my STEM OPT extension?
Ask HR or your recruiter to confirm Sanmina's E-Verify enrollment before accepting your offer. Once confirmed, your DSO and Sanmina's HR team must jointly complete Form I-983. USCIS requires the extension application to be submitted at least 90 days before your initial OPT period ends.
Does Sanmina sponsor H-1B visas after OPT?
Yes, Sanmina sponsors H-1B visas and has a history of filing for employees across engineering and technical roles. If H-1B sponsorship is important to your long-term plans, discuss it during the offer stage. You can use Migrate Mate to review Sanmina's H-1B filing history by role and location.
How do I find open OPT roles at Sanmina?
Search Sanmina directly on job boards filtering for OPT-eligible positions, and cross-reference with Migrate Mate to confirm which roles have active visa hiring patterns. Targeting Sanmina's electronics and hardware engineering teams and applying before your OPT window opens gives you the strongest start-date flexibility.
How does Sanmina hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Sanmina can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Sanmina's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
