Align your degree to facilities roles
SBM's core work sits in facilities and operations management, so a degree in business administration, operations, or environmental services strengthens your OPT application. Map your coursework directly to the role description before submitting, since hiring managers assess degree-to-role fit early.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Before signing any offer, ask SBM's HR team to confirm active E-Verify participation. If they're not enrolled, your authorization period ends at 12 months with no extension option available.
Target regional operations and support divisions
SBM operates across distributed regional accounts, so roles in regional operations coordination, account support, and client services are where OPT students most consistently land. Applying to field-based or account-level postings rather than corporate-only roles broadens your realistic opportunities inside the company.
Use Migrate Mate to verify SBM's H-1B history
OPT is a bridge, not a destination. Use Migrate Mate to check SBM's H-1B filing history by job title so you know which roles have converted OPT students to H-1B sponsorship. That data shapes which department you target during your job search.
Time your application around your OPT start date
You can apply for OPT up to 90 days before your program end date, and USCIS recommends applying at least 90 days in advance. Start your SBM job search early enough that an offer aligns with your EAD activation date, avoiding gaps between your start date and authorization.
Benchmark your salary using OFLC Wage Search
SBM's outsourcing roles span a wide wage range depending on location and scope. Before negotiating your offer, look up the prevailing wage for your specific occupation code using OFLC Wage Search. Accepting below the prevailing wage can complicate a future H-1B filing with this employer.
SBM Management Services OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does SBM Management Services sponsor OPT visas?
SBM Management Services doesn't sponsor OPT directly because OPT isn't a visa petition. USCIS grants OPT authorization to F-1 students independently. What SBM does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. If you're pursuing the STEM OPT extension, you'd also need to confirm SBM is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting an offer.
Which roles at SBM Management Services typically hire OPT students?
SBM's strongest OPT hiring tends to cluster in operations coordination, facilities support, account management, and business services roles. These functions align well with business administration, operations management, and environmental science degrees. Roles in regional field operations are often more accessible to OPT students than corporate headquarters positions.
How do I start the OPT process when joining SBM Management Services?
You initiate OPT through your Designated School Official, not through SBM. Your DSO updates your SEVIS record and issues a new I-20 recommending OPT, then you file Form I-765 with USCIS. SBM's HR team handles onboarding once you have your EAD in hand and can legally verify your work authorization through E-Verify.
How long does it take to get authorized to work at SBM on OPT?
USCIS standard processing for OPT takes three to five months from the date you file. You can apply up to 90 days before your program ends, so starting the process early is essential. SBM can't accelerate USCIS timelines, so coordinating your application start date with your intended employment start date at SBM is entirely your responsibility.
Does SBM Management Services support the transition from OPT to H-1B?
SBM has filed H-1B petitions for employees in qualifying roles, making the OPT-to-H-1B transition a realistic path for strong performers. Before accepting an offer, use Migrate Mate to review SBM's H-1B filing history by job title so you can target roles where that transition has actually happened, not just roles where it's theoretically possible.
How does SBM Management Services hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. SBM Management Services can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check SBM Management Services's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
