Target Sodexo's campus and healthcare accounts
Sodexo staffs food service and nutrition programs at universities and hospitals nationwide, which are among its highest-volume hiring accounts. OPT students in dietetics, hospitality management, or food science have a stronger fit with these segments than with corporate office accounts.
Align your degree to food service management roles
Sodexo evaluates whether your degree field matches the posted position. For OPT eligibility, your degree in nutrition, business, or hospitality must connect directly to the job duties. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your target role to confirm the standard educational requirement before applying.
Confirm Sodexo's E-Verify enrollment before your OPT start date
STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Sodexo participates in E-Verify, but confirm the specific hiring entity on your offer letter matches the enrolled employer in the E-Verify database before your DSO submits your STEM OPT extension application to USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to find Sodexo's active OPT job listings
Sodexo posts roles across hundreds of locations, making it hard to filter for OPT-compatible openings manually. Migrate Mate surfaces Sodexo listings filtered for employers with OPT hiring history, so you can focus your application on positions where your authorization type is already understood.
Get your EAD card before your first day
Sodexo's HR teams verify work authorization on or before day one. USCIS recommends applying for your OPT EAD at least 90 days before your program end date. A delayed EAD means a delayed start date, which can jeopardize the offer if Sodexo's account needs are time-sensitive.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship during the offer stage
Sodexo has sponsored H-1B visas for employees in management and professional roles. If you're in a STEM field or food service management track, ask your recruiter directly whether the role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship once your OPT period ends, before accepting the position.
Sodexo OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sodexo sponsor OPT visas?
Sodexo doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization that USCIS grants to F-1 students. What Sodexo does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. For STEM OPT extensions, Sodexo's E-Verify enrollment makes it eligible to support the extension, but the student and DSO manage that filing with USCIS.
Which departments at Sodexo typically hire OPT students?
Sodexo's food service management, nutrition and dietetics, hospitality operations, and facilities management teams have historically hired OPT students. Campus dining and healthcare accounts tend to be the most active because they run structured management training programs that align with hospitality, nutrition, and business degree tracks where OPT students are common.
How do I apply for a job at Sodexo on OPT?
Apply through Sodexo's careers site or find OPT-compatible listings using Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with OPT hiring history. When you receive an offer, provide your EAD and I-20 to Sodexo's HR team. Your employer doesn't file anything for OPT itself. USCIS and your DSO handle all OPT authorization paperwork on your side.
What is the timeline for starting work at Sodexo on OPT?
You can't start work until USCIS approves your OPT EAD and the start date on your EAD is reached. Apply at least 90 days before your program end date. Once you have the EAD in hand, your start date at Sodexo must fall within the authorized period printed on the card. Don't rely on a receipt notice alone.
Does Sodexo sponsor H-1B visas after OPT ends?
Sodexo has sponsored H-1B visas for employees in professional and management roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on the role, business need, and timing relative to the H-1B cap lottery in April. Raise the question with your recruiter before accepting an offer so you understand the company's position before your OPT authorization expires.
How does Sodexo hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Sodexo can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Sodexo's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
